balls women are throwing..

It seems like most of the women get on TV using the older stuff. You would think ball companies would at least give them 1 or 2 newer balls to promote. It must work for them,so they keep throwing the 2 year old stuff.

Its been said that the ball companies will pay a staffer or pro a bit more if they are on a PBA show using one of their companies latest and greatest.  While this may be true, some bowlers will not sacrifice ball reaction and the chance to win just to throw the new hook monster from their company.  I'm sure both women had their pick of any ball from their ball from the companies they represent.  Ball reps from these companies may have even tried to convince them to throw newer equipment and been flatly denied.

If the older stuff is giving you a good reaction, go for it.  Use it...sometimes I find the slightly older balls are better, more stable than their newer counterparts.

Latest and greatest doesn't mean BEST.

The ladies are out there primarily to win, not to promote a ball company's latest products.  They are going to use a ball that they feel gives them the best read and reaction on the lane.

I would say that maybe its the ball companies who should be asking the ladies why they seem to prefer the older stuff over the new.

I'm pretty sure one of them were useing a Brunswick "Radical Inferno". There is NO time to experiment or show off a NEW ball when trying to win. You ONLY get one chance or it's over. I would go with the most reliable ball and one I know how EXACTLY it's reaction will be, 4 the WIN! handmeDN

Yeah, Diandra did use the Radical while CDB had an Absolute. I did notice that the Absolute was a Mexican poured one, which to me has a slightly different reaction than the US ones. Or at least my Mexican one has a bit more pop than my old one did with the same drill and surface prep.

Mo told us at the Awesome Revs seminar that the climate controlled pour room made him weaken his covers as the climate controlled environment made them more consistent and stronger as a result. This could be the same reason the mexican balls seem stronger

The bowlers on Brunswick's pro staff are not going to get their arms twisted to throw new balls by Rick Benoit.  If there is one guy out there that genuinely wants the players to do their best it's Benoit.  There is not a smarter ball rep in the business and if he thinks something will work, he still leaves it up to the player to make the final choice.  Win or lose he is in their corner, helping them to learn from their experiences on the lanes.
