the past 2 weeks, not bad but had that 230 reaction and just couldn't kick the corners out consistently. So I pulled out 2 of my old faves (Red Zone and Swarm) and shot 783, 751 and 744 in three different houses this week. Nothing huge but its better than the 680s I been shooting.
-
Nice bowling. Since when does 680 constitute a slump?
I wish my slumps were that good...

"230 reaction" wtf is that...
-
230 is a score that doesnt make you any money.
-
No it doesn't but it does not a slump make. I just went out last night and threw 713- 243, 235, 235. I mean I'm not super amped about it but its not anywhere close to bad by any means. And what in the world is a 230 reaction? If you are throwing 230's your reaction is just fine and the thing keeping you from getting those corner pins out is most likely a problem with where you are coming into the pocket not an angle problem. People want to make carry a problem with their angle and reaction when really it just means they aren't hitting the pocket correctly. If you are off by less then an inch it can cause corners all day.

Poor guy, what a terrible slump to be in. You need to be in a real slump like some of us are. I have dropped over 10 pins in avg in last 2 months. Thats a slump!!!

Mine has dropped 12, from 258 to 246. I am not looking for sympathy and I am not going to apologize because I can repeat shots. The post was about the balls I used not the scores. Talent is not measured by your avg, its about making good shots when you need them. I dont care if I shoot 150 as long as the person I am bowling against shoot 149.
-
I see we have another who is mistaking getting the pocket on a THS for repeating shots. Sounds like you are a good bowler but that is pro tour level average if that is real, and on a reasonable pattern.

I have no reason to lie, my name is John A Murphy you can look it up. I average 236, 236 and 242 last year. I have been laid off the past 6 months and been able to rededicate my self and actually practice this year and it has paid off. This is why I dont post here much, most are very quick to bash and call you out.

If that's the case, you're in a place that maybe one or two people on this entire site can relate to. But if you step back and look at what you posted, it can easily been seen as bragging. You're relatively new to the site, and "complain" about shooting scores that are above many bowlers career high, by simply changing balls. Many of us struggle, change out a few pieces and shoot better. Did we get a better reaction, or simply throw it just a bit better that week?
I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from. First you say you had 2 "bad" weeks, then later you said your average dropped 12 pins which you didn't do in two weeks, unless it's a mid season league and you only had a few weeks in at 258. Anyway, you changed out a few balls and did better. That's great that you found a better match up, but it's not like your post is going to help anyone else get better, so I'm not entirely sure of your point. With your accomplishments, it's not like even you should be impressed with those scores which are right around your average.
We also have some legendary liars on this site, so you should understand why many are skeptical when someone comes on claiming they average around 250. You've been a member less than a year, and have haven't posted much to my memory. If we get to know you better, we're more likely to know where you're coming from.

I am sorry if I came off as bragging but the circle of bowlers that I bowl tournaments with these scores are not uncommon. In my defense if I said I have been shooting nothing but 550 and I final shot 680 I would have been well received. Do I detect a little bit of jealousy, I dont wanna start a pissin match but how are you suppose to get to know a group of people better when every time you speak they jump down your throat. I have a lot of knowledge of the game and drillings ect and why should I choose to share things with people that are not willing to give you a chance.
-
I looked you up and I am sorry that I got after you but those kinds of scores are pretty hard to believe. I still don't know what kind of pattern you are throwing on but anyone who is getting those kinds of scores has to be doing something right I will give you that.

Definite FIGJAM...otherwise, why was he posting? He wasn't asking for anyone's advice...straight up FIGJAM...

I agree, you will never see another score posted from me. I didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings, how insensitive of me.
-
John,
I'm glad you're bowling well, and with a couple of balls that I personally like a bunch, too.
My son inherited my Swarm and he's never had a bad outing with it. We drilled it Rico and the ball is the most predictable pearl in his whole collection.
Sorry for my first comment. But I'm usually pretty content with 680s when I consider how many things can (and sometimes do) go wrong in three games.
Keep up the good scoring!

Actually I was trying to give you some props in the beginning. Like I said, I doubt very few of us can relate to 680-700 being a bad night. If you seriously thought I was "jumping down your throat" you're way to sensitive to be posting on any internet board. We get tons of people that think they're God's gift to bowling only to find out later that they're full of beans. You seem to be legit, so more power to you. But at the same time, it wasn't a technical change that got you back in the groove, merely a ball change. I personally would be more impressed if you found a minor tweak in your swing or release that got your ball to carry better.

There is no need to apologize you are 1 of the few that contribute good info to this forum. My problem is that I am never content with anything. There is always room for improvement on my part.
On another note yes those balls are both great, the red zone is probably the best ball I have ever had it has made me alot of money. I need to pick up another before they disappear. My swarm is 70*5 1/2*70 pin down and is great later in a block when I need to get left of 20, very controllable yet strong of the spot.
