i have one and the lanes i bowl on are usually pretty dry so my driller drilled the ball with the pin above bridge prolly 2 inches above the bridge for length, i throw the ball prolly 18-19 mph its box finish, sometimes the ball catches so late that it comes in way behind the head pin leaving huge weird splits. now if i slow it down it hooks off the lane is there anything i can do to the surface of the ball. please help.

My brother is a huge cranker and formally used that drilling exclusively. Like you, he left funky splits when he missed (he took out the 1 2 5 8 twice in one game) I move the pin above his ring ringer and kicked the cg out. Yes, this results in earlier roll, but it also straightens out the arc of the shot. This allows him to move further in and ease up on his release a bit. The SI's cover will let it get down the lane. I suggest putting that pin under your bridge(under your middle finger if your track allows) and kicking the cg out. If you don't want to plug it, a weight hole 4 1/2 inches from your span down by the thumb might help tame it down.

thanks for all the help i think im gonna try a different surface and if that doesnt work plug and redrill a different way.
