I agree with Brunswicks ratings for equipment. I use it plus the archives to compare current balls with older ones. That way I can have a good idea of what the ball is intended to do, and compare it with others I''''ve already drilled. I then have a better image of what the ball is designed to do, and try to match that to a drill pattern accordingly.

We always state "Don''''t try to make a ball do something it was not designed to do, rather, choose the ball that is meant to do what you are looking for a ball to do".
That is so true for any bowling ball, and so often over looked and the blame for why something doesn''t roll good in most cases. Not every ball out there is designed to go long and hook, but that is what most people ask for.
