Title: Blast Zone pic and some details
Post by: dizzyfugu on June 11, 2007, 09:22:58 PM
Found this at Buddie's:

Brunswick Blast Zone Bowling Ball

http://www.buddiesproshop.com/files/5591.jpg

"Brunswick is bringing back an updated version of the bowling industry's original asymmetric core. The Phantom core was the first core with a two-pin design and a built in Preferential Spin Axis (PSA). By using an updated version of the Phantom core, Brunswick has increased the asymmetric differential of the Zone line from 0.017" to 0.020". Combined with a Solid / Pearl hybrid Activator coverstock and an 800-grit wet sand finish, the Blast Zone is an ideal asymmetric ball on medium-to-oily lane conditions."

No details yet, pretty ball, though, almost like a 4 color ball (Teal, Blue, Purple, Black - like a re-do of The One?). Yet another oil ball, looks to me like a Strike Zone replacement, just a touch flippier? Interesting the Hybrid Activator coverstock.

Why must they do this to me?  I buy all this Visionary equipment that I absolutely love and Brunswick is trying to sway me back...  looks and sounds like an amazing ball.

Sign me up for a case, looks/sounds great. Hybrid cover will be interesting to see how it reacts. Looking forward to the updated Phantom core as well. Is it late June yet?

Haven't seen a core pic yet, wonder what it is going to look like? I assume that the "new" core design will look like those barrel-shaped things that were/are built into Storm's Trifecta, Paradigm and Passion from the Crimson Phantom. The other designs do not look like a basis for a strong PSA, and would IMO end up quite close to the stretched Danger Zone core the used in the latest models.

There had been 3 Phantoms in the early 90ies, for reference check these:

I love the Zone series, but the logo of the Blast Zone is awful. To a nine year-old, it might look kool, but to me, it's almost as bad as the London 2012 Olympics logo. Well, maybe not as bad, the London 2012 is just yuck.

Bad logos, but good ideas for balls.

I am an Activator junkie, so I can look past the logo to get my hands on one

its about time they updated the drill sheets.
maybe this is one small step past the "leverage generation".

They have updated the drill sheets, they base it off of a meduim tracker now. some of the pin placements they have are negative. finally a company that starts to move away from giving examples for only high trackers.

All of Brunswicks new releases look VERY promising! Im looking forward to throwing some Brunswicks again.

I love the way every company is getting so fancy and complicated with there core shapes and Brunswick is actually going backwards in there core design, bringing back the Phantom core and inducing a line that uses cores from 90's.

this must be the year for dorky looking logos.  blast zone looks like something you'd do at chuck 'e' cheese.

Finally after brunswick having a year of mediocre releases they might have things straighten out. If products, like Viz A Balls, and plastic balls don't end up on backorder for months at a time i might order a little more brunswick.

Hopefully none of these are wrinkled and don't overskid.

I hope the brunswick reps see this, cause it's coming from an irritated proshop owner.

The Sidewinder looks very promising to me - the return of the Fuze Eliminator! Shoule be pretty close, and even looks better than the older ink blue orb
Should be OOB a lot stronger than the Ambush, nice!
