Practiced around 13 games using 5 different balls, and mixed in the Blazing to see where it fits in the arsenal. Box finish is highly polished, and the layout is pretty close to my original Inferno:

The shot was a bit on the oily side today. Decent shape 3 year old DBA synthetics, house-shot medium heavy – good recovery on right lane but some carry down evident on left lane. The Blazing in the box condition did not like the left lane at all. It needs some dry boards to finish. After a while I hit it with a green scotchbrite pad to dull it up.
The verdict – it does what it was designed to do. It gets farther down the lane and revs up  a bit later than the original Inferno. It plays 2 to 3 boards farther right than the original Inferno. The cover was too strong to play on the edge of the oil up the boards. That’s the job of my Red/Black Monster anyway. It does have that Inferno hit and carry. It looks like it will be a good step-down ball when the Inferno starts hooking too quick. I’m probably going to settle on either a rubbing compound or polishing compound surface with no added polish. I need to get some more games on this guy before I post a real review.

randy, this is out of topic, but do you use any bevel at all? that thumb looks pretty sharp.

Doesn't roughing up the ball, especially with a 600 grit pad, sort of defeat its whole purpose in life, that is, to go longer, on less oil, than the Inferno, with less backend???

(I know it is easy to return it to stock box condition.)
 
Doing that makes it seem like it has no purpose for you, in your arsenal. Were you just testing it?
