Rampage now, what next?
« on: July 20, 2006, 10:59:56 AM »
Right now I am throwing a Rampage.  I want to get something this year a little different than the Rampage.  Would the Red Zone or Smokin Inferno be close.  If not either one of those two, then what?  Thanks.

Its kinda hard to say if we don't know what you want the ball to do, but besides that, since the Rampage is a skid/snap ball...i recommend an earlier
rolling ball like the vapor zone or even earlier than that in the scorchin inferno

Good point.  I am kind of looking for a more arcy type ball than the rampage?

Get a solid resin...

Red Zone is an excellent choice!

I don't understand this post.. You say you want something different this year than the Rampage. And the very next sentence you say would the Red Zone or Smokin be close?! Be Close to the Rampage? I thought you wanted something different. Perhaps I am misreading something here, but I'm lost

He seems to want something similar, either a step up or a step down from the Rampage.  As a step up (more hook) give either the Red or Vapor a try.  oob the Red will be longer and have more backend than the Vapor due to the factory rough buff on the Vapor, but overall at the same finish the Vapor will be longer and more angular than the Red/Strike.  As a step down in hook give the punisher a try.

Since you do not have a profile, it is difficult to say.  If you want "arcy" go with the Red Zone or Strike Zone.  The Rampage is a pearl.  So is a Vapor.  You are going to get jump off the dry with both of those balls.  I agree 100% with BrunsNick.  You NEED a solid now.  The Red Zone is the best choice.

I'd also go with a Red Zone. It is a solid ball, and handles more oil than a Rampage. With the option to sand it for even more oil, you'd get a better (more versatile) addition than through a VZ, which is a good ball, too, but a pearl. SI is not a good choice as an overall addition, I think it is too limited in its use.

If I would decide to get the red zone, which sounds like a good idea, would I have it drilled the same?  I don't know anything about drilling of bowling balls, but I know the rampage is drilled to 2L on the brunswick chart.
