Quantum Double Helix Video

2nd Shift house shot, backends were tight, so it was hard to get off the urethane stripe.

Not a ball you're going to wheel the lane with, but really awesome if you want to slow hook outside the track area, thats right, slow hook outside the track area.

If anyone is thinking about getting this ball, be sure to get a short pin out to lay this puppy low, otherwise, I dont think it would ever transition off the stripe at all.

Crankenstein, you were right about the stripe, you gotta slow hook it to flare onto the resin, otherwise it never turns over, as you'll see on the 10 pin leaves.

I will be using it on monday night, fresh/crisp THS with clean backends, we'll see how it does then, hopefully it transitions sooner, or ill be taking the speed down even more to avoid those pesky 10's.

I was not reving it up at all, the thumbhole was about 2 hours old, and I'm not comfortable with the ball yet.

shot 220-258-207-213 = 898 for 4 games with it, a winner in my book.

The one I had wasn't fit exactly to my hand, but man I tried everything to get that thing off the stripe earlier than 59 feet down the lane. I just don't have the hand or slow enough speed to do that. It might be on monster on badly burnt or bone dry heads but I just don't see that extreme enough to warrant carrying it around.

I had a Helix and it was great for that rare shot that I wouldn't run into often enough to keep it around.  

I prefer my X-Zone Hi-Diff much more since it works on a greater variety of conditions.  It may not make the biggest move, but if there isn't a puddle down lane, it hits really well.

From what I've heard/read the Double was supposed to be more versatile than the Helix.  I don't think I'll lose any sleep not knowing how it reacts in my hand though.

I gotta pack my thumb tighter next time I use it (needs TA-1D tape), it was too loose, and was coming off my hand too early. I guess I was expecting a little more from it, but its still hard to make a determination of its true worth just yet.

Fresh THS will be the true litmus test for me, for obvious reasons I cant shoot video during league. I want to move further outside like I normally do on a fresh shot, somewhere in the 4-5 board vacinity, it should come alive then with more dry to work with. I was scared to ditch it with the thumb hole loose, on the leak shot in the video, I surely would have playing that far out.

If anything, the way the ball reacts on errors to the outside, I'll have found myself a sport shot training ball.

Did you try move your whole alignment about 5 boards outside and go directly up the 2/3/4 board area where there should have been a lot more dry?

I didn't remember that the blue was PK 18 solid. Even with that it seemed to barely move the pins around.

I wasnt comfortable doing that with a brand new ball, with a brand new thumb hole, next time out I will, and im sure ill get more angle, I need to tighten up the thumbhold its too lose for me.

Only difference between the original and double helix is the core.

The double helix is higher differential and higher RG to prevent the ball from rolling off the stripe too soon.

Its a neat piece, but honestly if the concept had worked worth a flying fornication it would still be used today.  Obviously there isn't much merit to the design, though a cool thought.  I always wanted to try one, and I know the original helix wasn't any better than a reactive anything of the era for me, that said, its a cool relic and good luck with it. I say if it proves its worth then hold on it tight, Quantums are getting hard to find.

Im using it tonight on fried and flying backends.
My danger zone rolls out at the break, so this should be a great matchup, especially outside the track area where NO ONE goes.

Thanks for your comments, it is unique, im not sure how much use she is going to get though. I worked on making my release stronger last night, so maybe it will have a little more life tonight.

If I manage to find a practical use for it, ill be sure to shoot a video of it.
But on synthetics with moderatenormal carrydown after a full set of use, its tough to get enough grip on the resin caps the last 15 feet of lane without slow hooking the snot out of it.

Nice shootin!  I wasn't trying to sound negative, which re-reading my post, I think I may have. It was more in regards to the guy above that said "why would you want one?"   Cool concept for sure, and if you make it work then good deal, hell I'm still wheeling a clear plastic wolf with a new age asymetric layout that lets me play in the dirt and get a nasty snap in the backend.
