TIME FOR CHANGE
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:23:12 AM »
I'VE RECENTLY MADE THE DECISION TO STOP THROWING OTHER EQUIPMENT,I'M IN THE PROCESS OF STARTING TO LOOK AT BRUNSWICK STUFF.THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT I BOWL ON A TERRIBLE SURFACE OF HALF WOOD AND HALF SYNTHETICS AT A LENGTH OF 38'.MY AXIS TILT IS 4 5/8 UP 3/8 WITH MEDIUM TO HIGH BALL SPEED.I WAS INTRESTED IN COMPETING IN TOURNAMENT AGAIN BUT WITH THE WAY IN WHICH I'VE HAD TO DRILL EQUIPMENT IN THE PAST TO COMBAT MY HOUSE CONDITION I FEEL THAT I'M AT CONSIDERABLE DISADVANTAGE WHEN BOWLING IN TOURNAMENTS.AT THIS TIME I WOULD LIKE SOME FEEDBACK AS TO WHAT YOU GUYS MIGHT CONSIDER FOR THE TOURNAMENT ENVIROMENT IE FULL SYNTHETIC SURFACES.

Which bowling balls do you already have, and what are the layouts/surface preparations on them?

WELL, AT THE MOMENT  LIKE I SAID FOR ANYTHING TO WORK AT MY HOME CENTER I'VE HAD TO DRILL STUFF THAT I KNEW WOULD PROBERLY HANDCUFF ME. WEAKER CORES,WEAKER COVERSTOCKES WITH AGGRESSIVE LAYUOTS. HAVE TO KEEP THE PINS UNDER WITH OVER/UNDER PROBLEMS.ALSO I JUST NEEDED THE LENGTH THAT GOT OF THE BALLS ANYTHING TO AGGRESSIVE WOULD BE DOA,LIKE I STATED BEFORE I NOT CONCERNED ABOUT MY HOUSE SHOT,I'M MORE CONCERNED WITH TOURNAMENT PLAY

Understood, but I'm just curious about what you're throwing now...because I'm in kind of the same boat with respect to league.     40-year-old center, original wood in back, beat-up HPLs in front.  Because of that, I carry a separate arsenal for tournaments.

How many balls are you looking to drill?  Or maybe I should phrase the question another way...how wide of a range of conditions are you looking to cover?

If you bowl on beat up wood, dont use Brunswick stuff, you will have to force it throught the heads. Those big huge weight blocks dont usually match up with wood. I am sure the big B freaks will argue that one, but its true.

You're a clown, and know absolutely nothing about Brunswick equipment.
Profile indicates you throw 1 brunswick ball, and previous posts back up the fact that you're the biggest troll on this forum.

Back on topic:

Beat up lanes usually call for something that will clear the heads well, i.e. Activator & Activator Advance. Lets add in a Medium RG core, I think we're looking at a Smokin Inferno here, if you can find one. Lay it out with the pin closer to your midline, and around 4 1/2"-5" from your positive axis point.

Also, a Red Zone to cover the fresh patterns if needed, and Smokin Inferno to cover the broken down shot after a couple of games. On high friction wood, you shouldnt need much more than that, maybe a spare ball if you dont have one already.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the original poster is looking for guidance as to what to drill for tournament conditions on primarily synthetic lane surfaces.

I apologize if one of my responses implied otherwise.

So I'll repeat my question:  What range of tournament conditions are you looking to cover?

My reputation and contributions on this board far exceed yours.
Check yourself into the beginner's board.

Red Zone + Smokin Inferno + Spare Ball.
I'm standing by that on a high friction surface, clown input or not.

I keep thinking the question is not asked about the high friction surface of his home house but instead the slipprier synthetics....

I agree with Bracket creep different arsenals needed for wood/synthetic than all synthetic with tournament oil.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS also different strategies help a lot also...moving feet to crowd the intended mark(less swing)....and shorter focus points on slipprier surface(say the dots instead of the arrows).

Where in this statement do you see a problem with "slippery" synthetics.

quote:
THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT I BOWL ON A TERRIBLE SURFACE OF HALF WOOD AND HALF SYNTHETICS AT A LENGTH OF 38'

And this statement...

Sounds like a high friction surface to me.
I think hes more concerned about "tournament shots" at his "home house" and not the "house shot" at his "home house".

PS - focus points have nothing to do with ball matchup, thats a small game tweak for loft/better length if you need it.

PPS - You have the tendancy to stray way off on these topics, to talk about little minor things that have no impact on the solution in a broad sense.

PPPS - Why do you do this PS stuff? Its pretty creepy. Isnt this stuff for secretaries and love letters?

What I think the original poster wants to know is what balls he could possibly use in tournaments (any lanes, any conditions) aswell as use at the place he bowls regularly at.

He said he cant really  bowl in tournaments now because he is forced to use weaker equipment with aggressive layouts, where the weaker equipment may not be good on tournament lanes or oil patterns.

I UNDERSTOOD YOUR QUESTION,AT THE PRESENT TIME I'M UTILIZING THE AGENT WITH THE PIN UNDER THE FINGERS  CG IN THE 45DEGREE POSITION.I ALSO USE THE  RSX 300 WITH THE PIN STACKED AT THE 33/4 POSITION JUST OUTSIDE MY RING FINGER CG DIRECTLY UNDER THE PIN ABOUT 1' UNDER MY MIDLINEAND. LAST BUT LEAST I DO HAVE A BLACK WIDOW WITH THE PIN ABOVE 5" OFF MY AXIS MB TWO INCHES OFF THUMB IN THE STRONG POSITION.
