That link you attached is not the official Brunswick website and some of the data placed on there is not directly off our spec sheet. They did use most of our wording in their "Product Information" section, and in that area it describes the ball as being for medium-dry to medium-oil. It also states great for all but the driest and oilest of conditions. The section at the top with the ball specifications has the line "Lane Conditions: Heavy Oil". That is added to that websites desription by them.
Also, you said it is higher on the chart than the Ultimate. Up and down on the chart is for the amount of angularity the ball has, and yes, the Smokin' is listed as more angular than the Ultimate, which it is. The left to right listing on the chart describes the "hook" potential, and the Ultimate is further to the right than the Smokin' which means more hookability.
When all is said and done, the Smokin' is great when used on the right conditions, but that is strickly up to each individual bowlers perception of how they want the ball to work based on their individual style.
