I have a Dry/R in the tournament bag, for those very rare occasions where I need something that will ignore the front part of the lane but still recover when I give it room. IME it's as clean through the front as the other reactive Power Grooves, but is somewhat more subdued at the break.
As for drillings, I was advised to go stronger than usual with the Dry/R, because with a weak drilling, it could miss the break completely. I went with a leverage pin position, and I haven't had any problems with over-flaring.
