Brunswick Absolute Inferno or Storm Vertigo
« on: June 27, 2005, 09:35:24 PM »
Hi there,

Have read some of the reviews of Storm vertigo and Absolute Inferno, but still confuse which ball should I buy.

I am currently using a 14 Pounds Predator Pursuit (Ebonite) that was drilled for medium dry lane conditions. I am looking for medium oily/oily lane ball.

I am considering myself a medium revs with quite a strong power when I throw the ball. I just started bowling for about 1 year with 160-170 average, I am thinking of purchasing a vertigo, but afraid that I am not able to control the ball due to the aggresiveness of the ball.

Can you guys please give me some highlight on this topic...

thanks,
Cruz

From what I have seen, both balls handle oil well, but react differently and handle the oil in a different way:

The AI is a typical Brusnwick low RG ball - it will start to roll early, and is therefore rather unimpressed by oil. The Rough Buff surface give traction, too. Not a real heavy oil ball, but playable on a wide range of conditions. A friend has one with an early reaction drilling, and it breaks after 35-40' and the goes directly to the pins.

The Vertigo has in box condition more overall traction, some players around here even polish it because the coverstock is very aggressive. The Vertigo with some glaze seems to go longer, and then makes a sharper, curved move.

All in all, I think the AI is easier to control, but the Vertigo is offering more potential for experieced players.

I throw both balls and total hook they are both the same. The difference is where the hook starts on the lane. Absolute picks up quicker than the vertigo.
