there was a great showing by brunswick at the greater kansas city classic this week. i saw a LOT of infernos, raging infernos, time zones, monster bruisers, etc. many independents like lonnie waliczek, dave d'entremont, bob glass, and bryon smith were using brunswick. some other independents( rick steelsmith and michael haugen, jr.) made it to the round of 8. pro staffer brad angelo made it to the round of 16. pro staffer michael fagan didn't fare too well in qualifying----better luck next week. independent mike scroggins has made it to the espn telecast using brunswick. and pro staffer chris barnes has made it to the telecast as well.
steelsmith lost 4-3 to norm duke in a match that could have gone either way. steelsmith started with a purple power blitz but went to a monster bruiser. had he started with the monster he may have made the show----his ball reaction was better with the monster.
michael haugin jr. lost out to mika in 7 games and was using some lane #1 stuff and the inferno and raging inferno.
brad angelo used mostly the raging inferno and the monster bruiser.
i could not tell what equipment mike scroggins was using but it must have suited him well.
chris barnes used everything but the kitchen sink. i saw him use swamp monsters, infernos, raging infernos, monster bruisers, etc.----both dull and polished. he was always looking for a better reaction.
brunswick ball rep rick benoit was a pleasure to talk to as well. he was never to busy to answer any questions i had and he made himself readily available to any pro who needed his help( whether they were using brunswick or not ). here's wishing chris barnes the best of luck in going for his second title of the year.

chris barnes had a great shot today but just couldn't find a way to win----both the raging inferno and inferno were used today---better luck next week.
besides talking to rick benoit this week i also talked to chris barnes and parker bihn III and we all agreed that brunswicks equipment has never been better than it is right now---no doubt about it. this is THE time to use brunswick.

Might have been referring to the drilling. Haugen had an Inferno that was stronger than a couple of his Ragings. Having seen two Infernos with two drastically different drills on them, I can say that it's an INCREDIBLY versatile ball out of box. One was drilled 5x4 (pin over fingers) and the other was 4x2 (pin to the right and under the ring). Lol, I still don't know if Randy knew what he was talking about though. I've learned to listen to Rick. When the Bruiser and Time Zone came out, I asked him what he thought. He was pretty impressed with the Time Zone, especially with the core, because the coverstock was basically the same as the old black Zones. He said the Bruiser was a good ball, but he'd seen the same kind of reaction before, so it wasn't anything extra special. He said yesterday that he's really impressed with the Slay/R so far. It's got to be an incredible ball, everyone go get one!

brunswick has some great stuff out there but as you know amf was ball of choice for duke. he isnt on there staff. ebonite was 2nd. so is it the ball make or the bowler?
-
allstar23, you're right. scroggins had been wearing a brunswick monster shirt friday and saturday. then on the telecast i noticed he was wearing a dyno-thane shirt and was using their equipment-----dyno-thane must have offered more money.
-
greg you are right once again the money took over the balls that got him there
-
Greg & tomtom,
WHile I don't know what money was offered, I'd be VERY, VERY surprised if Dyno-Thane offered more money than big brother Brunswick. Scroggins had a great reaction with the Vendetta Particle; only problem was the ice water normally in the Scroggins brothers' veins must have melted. I've seen them bowl in several tournaments with ZERO emotion. If he didn't skate several down the 1 board, he would have scored quite well.

Yes, I believe it was the player also.
I was sooo happy to see Duke beat Barnes. I didn't care that he was throwing that Ain't My Fault stuff.

Lol, the pothead vs Buzz Lightyear. I've gotta root for Barnes cause I live in the city he grew up in. Lol, no wonder he moved . .
