Brunswick Ball Death??
« on: August 25, 2006, 05:40:29 PM »
Tonight after a small tournament of 9-pin no tap where I cashed yet again, season record for the # of times a bowler has made the cash list all summer. I was talking to a guy who was rolling a vapor zone. He said that ball is great at 1st but has since lost its hooking ability. I asked what he does to clean the ball, said nothing. I said that could be a huge reason why its not working for you. He was impressed with the movement I got from the rampage, he thought about getting one after watching me tonight.

Has anyone experienced ball death with a Vapor Zone?? I have 2 and they still hook like the day I got em.

i've never experienced ball death with any brunswick ball because i believe in taking care of them. i clean them after every use and they are resurfaced and run through the rejuvenator at regular intervals.

Sounds like someone that buys a new car but doesn't change oil, filters, etc.

My Vapor has 100 + games on it and performs like new!

Rejuvination at the shop here is $12.00 a ball (unless you are a great customer, then it's more like $5.)

You don't really need to use a rejuvenator, a heat lamp or warm water will do if you don't have access to one.  I don't like cleaning my stuff, but I wipe them off with a towel after every shot, so I don't give the oil a chance to sink in much, and then I'll soak it out every now and then.  It's been a long time since I've had anything die . . and if you want to know something else interesting, balls that are used quite a bit tend to lose their reaction.  Put the ball in the closet for about a month and then give it a shot, you'll be surprised.

Honestly, I am one to not clean my equipment. I have never seen a loss of reaction from any ball ive used. Even Ebonites The One, known for ball death. That ball had over 175 games on it from me, Never saw any loss of hook potential and I never cleaned it. I think ball death is in everyones head and just an excuse to get a new ball.
