Brunswick Ball Selection
« on: July 31, 2005, 09:57:42 AM »
Brunswick Fans,
I've been a loyal Storm bowler now for about 2 years.  I am a lefty, avg around 195, and I have medium-low speed, medium-low revs, and a medium axis of rotation.  I would like to know if the Brunswick Absolute Inferno would be a good medium ball for me.  The reason I am asking, is that I have had some problems getting a decent hook out of all the Storm Pearl Reactives I have owned.  Please write back and let me know if this ball will give me a decent reaction, I am looking for something that will hook about 10 boards on a medium pattern, and hopefully be able to play up the outside boards with on a Heavy pattern.

I would say the Absolute Inferno would be great. Don't quote me though, I'm no expert.

If you can find one I would suggest getting an OI, that is one of the best Brunswick balls for medium conditions, IMO. But if you have your heart set on the AI it might work out fine for medium oil, if you polish it up.

The OI might be a better bet, if you can find one NIB. The AI in box condition is quite rolly, much different from Storm stuf I know. But it should work fine on an outside shot as long as there is some oil to get it down cleanly.

If you have a good driller at hand, also consider a Zone Classic. You can do a lot with this ball, and make it through the asymetric core a nice match for a specific lane condition. With its low RG core it should fit your game well, adn the polished coverstock gives it a bit more length and snap in general, although it is not a spasmic type of ball.

I would agree with dizzyfugu in saying that the Zone Classic is probably the closest Brunswick ball you'll find to the Storm pearls.

But also, perhaps the new BVP Rampage might earn a close look here?

Just wanted to post a thanks to all who responded to this thread.  I went ahead and purchased that Absolute Inferno today and god damn, why haven't I been throwing Brunswick until now?!  Ball is way too strong for the house I threw it in.  Luckily I am not bowling there this winter and the house where I will be bowling will have a heavier amount of oil.  Thanks all
