it is a non-grit polish that just fills in scratches, al-a black magic, xtra shine, etcetera...

Of course it is; that's why the grit to which you truly sand a Brunswick ball, BEFORE adding this finish, makes an actual AND real difference!!

Get some sleep, king. (Yes, eventually I'll pick me up a Ravage!)

Hey, I'm not the smartest tool in the shed....lol....Please tell me what grit filler is.

What I am trying to find out is if it makes a ball glossier or shiner than say Storm Xtra Shine or Black Magic as with my not a lot of hand those polishes don't work well for me. My Impulse Zone originally worked great out of the box. Throw the ball too wide and it would come back from nowhere. Pull it and it would hold. Now it won't come back from no where and doesn't hit well even on a good pocket hit.

The ball was developing a track, so I used a Green 600 Grit Scotch Brite Pad and did a 6 side sanding job, then polished it with 2000 Grit Columbia Polish as I do all of my balls and the ball lost some of its hook plus hit like a marshmallow. Took that off and tried the Xtra Shine and same results. Took that off and tried Black Magic and the ball over shot the break point and kept going straight. I use the Columbia Polish and the Green Scotch Brite Pad on my Triple X and it works great on that ball, but won't on the Impulse Zone.

Previously the Impulse Zone would handle oilier conditions than my Triple X. Now the Triple X will handle olier conditions then the Impulse Zone. In fact, right now the Impulse Zone won't handle anything.

Even though I didn't do well with the Uranium and Golden Nugget Buzzsaws which also have Brunswick covers, when I resanded and re-polished them I had the same results as I have now with the Impulse Zone. In fact I had the same luck with the original Inferno. For whatever reason, Brunswick covers go dead on me once I remove the NIB cover. I don't have that problem with Storm or Ebonite balls, just Brunswick.

Any suggestions from anyone before I convert the ball to a boat anchor?

Correct what? Convert it to a boat anchor? Are all Brunswick covers this troublesome?

So if a person sands the ball to 400 grit and fills the grit, what good did sanding it to 400 grit do if you fill it up?.....Damn, I am trying to learn something here.

I think it is weird that you can use certain polishes like Columbia or Storm Step 2 on all balls and get results, but these polishes won't work on Brunswick covers. Guess I will never learn to quit buying balls with Brunswick covers.

Take the ball to your local proshop and have them refinish it to factory they should know what it needs if they are good.

Theres instructions on the back of the "high gloss polish"

Hold * i will go grab it*

Evenly wet sand the ball to a 400grit finish and follow the polishing directions ( apply to 4 sides of the ball, use a towel to apply a generous ammount of polish to a towel apply using a smooth even pressure, increasing as you polish and then another clean towel to firmly buff the surface) For added length work up from 400 grit to 600, 800, 1200, and 1500grit.  Each increment of griw will add 2-4 feet in length.

BM, BrunsFactFin, will cover boarder ranges of grit levels. we use the cut and polish for resurfacing plastic balls, rather than using the more expensive moonshine from storm.

my center uses 80 units of prodigy on brunsproanvil and it's slick stuff, but the backends are stripped clean every oiling, so you always have strong backends.

usually for customers with decent speed, we wet sand with either green pads, or 400 grit paper depending and then polish with 320, or track's reaction plus, to give them a strong but still polished ie, energy saving reaction on there shiney stuff.

Sounds maybe like you might want to try some particle polish for your Impulse, or take storm step 1 instead, and spray some water on your towel to keep it from drying out too fast.  It gives it a smooth surface and if you apply enough heat, and or time with the cloth, you'll get an almost shiney surface finish.

Does the Brunswick Factory High Gloss Polish work as good on all balls or just Brunswick balls?

It says its for all balls, reactive urathane and plastic.  it excludes particle, but eh... it comes on the impulse so im guessing its okay to use.

Says its designed for all manusactures also.

Thanks guys. You've been a big help and may have saved my ball from being another Brunswick boat anchor......I'll have to order the polish as the shops don't have it here.

Again much thanks. Maybe I can help you sometime.

I got mine from buddies www.buddiesproshop.com , they were one of the only places i found with it.

If you need anything else you might as well buy it, cuz teh shipping charges suck.  I figure buy more = save on shipping.

G-luck.

Hey guys, one more Question...Why do Storm, Columbia, Track, etc. polishes work on all balls except Brunswick. Is it something about the activator cover stock or what?

"SHOULD" being the operative word, or in the case of most pro shops, the NON-OPERATIVE word.

Do U know for a fact that "they" work on ALL balls except Brunswick?

Here's what i actually do..
I try, if our local shop has remembered to get it, only to use Brunswick stuff on Brunswick balls, Track stuff on Track balls, Storm, Columbia....... U know what i mean? But i've recently used Storm products on my Brunswicks as the shop was out of B-stuff.. And it worked out just fine..

And it was on my 2+years old original Inferno.. Good as new..

All my balls with Activator or A+ on em, no problems at all..

i generally substitute black magic in the finishing process and really see little difference in performance. i find that storms xtra shine is a little straighter through the front and the same in the back in this application.

Oh no.....lol....I re-did my ball last night and used the Storm Xtra Shine that I hardley ever use. I have Black Magic, but never use it as it used to make my original X-Factor slide thru the break point and not hook hardley at all so I never used it again. From what you say here, it looks like I should have tried the Black Magic???

SKC I know that from using the same polishes on other balls such as Storm, Ebonite, etc. On those other balls, I use mostly Storm Step 2 and Columbia 2000 Grit Polish and once in a while for drier lanes, a tiny bit of Storm Xtra Shine and they work on those balls. However when I apply the same polishes to the Impluse Zone, it plays dead....you know, like this...

Brick,

We've talked about this before.Yes, they all work, but you have not know what you have and how to use them.

You know you have a tendency to press TOO HARD and too long.

ALso, BlackMagic and Brunswick's High gloss do not change the underlying "grit" because they have no particles in their polish to change the surface. Xtra-Shine and most others have fine particle akin to the particles that are attached to sandpaper. This changes the underlying surface by an amount (uncalculable) proportional to the amount of polish you use, the degree with which you press, and the amount of time on the spinner. The amount of shine has to go into your personal memory banks; so you can remember for next time. There is no magic formula.
