Title: brunswick griff bowling ball
Post by: montymont on January 01, 2007, 01:51:13 AM: i just bought a used brunswick griff bowling ball to use in my bowling league. I practiced with it for two games and got a 131 score and a 189 score. i think this ball can be good for me but i would like to know how good can it hook and how to make it work?

Post by: Rileybowler on January 01, 2007, 10:39:27 AM: That is just not so that they need to go buy the highest price hooking ball in the shop, you can buy a very nice entry level ball that hooks for slightly over $100 including drilling and inserts . Roto Grip has an entry level line and the balls are great try the Saturn or the Venus. Your profile is not in so if you are just trying to learn to hook invest in one of these entry level balls take a couple of lessons from the pro shop person on how to correctly throw a hook you'll be very glad that you did

I agree, but when did your uncle win the tourney? I use my plastic and play down and in a lot of times, but if he is having problems even with that line i would tell him to get an entry level ball. First though I def would stick with the ball for a little while and go practice. Learn the game. I started on urethane

Truthfully.....the Griff will work when the lanes are fried and anything resin is having trouble getting down the lane. Will you encounter this condition much? Probably not. But, when you need something to play straighter or get down the lane when nothing else will, the Griff CAN work.

P.S: If you think I am B.Sing, Brunsnick.com posted a video about the Griff about a month or 2 ago and he was doing just fine.

You're better off taking that ball and throwing it in the trash! Go to your pro shop and buy the biggest hooking ball they sell! It should cost around $250.....anything less than that and you are buying a crappy ball!

This is total BS. Anything under 250 being crap. If that was true then why even bother making low end entry level balls. Fact is the biggest hook monster isn't always the best bet. It may actually cost you in the end.

Going by what you asked you will probably have a lot of success with a lowend entry level ball the planet line from ROTO, Groove line from the Big B. They are inexpensive and can be made to hook on a variety of conditions except heavy oil. If you are only in League and League type shots they should be great.

I don't know much about the Griff but the people on here know what they aretalking about.

Funny that one known troll (Crooklyn) is feeding another possible troll. No offense Monty, but the user ID is pretty new, and the post has some "trolliness" to it - sorry, but "how good can it hook and how to make it work?" smells like a troll. If not, than I apologize.

If you are serious:

You can be successful with just about any ball. Make sure the ball is fitted properly to your hand. Don't worry about how much the ball can hook - hooking the lane might be impressive, but isn't necessary to knock all the pins down. Play around with the ball and see what it can do - everybody has a different style. You can give me the "most hookingest ball ever" and I guarantee I can't make it hook anything like what some of the people on this board can.
