Brunswick has bought Ebonite!!!!

No joke. Can’t believe it. More details to come. I heard it earlier and thought my friend had the info reversed. Made a call and I am floored.

Is it my imagination, or did Ebi seem to loose its Mojo ever since Ron Hickland left?

Track. Columbia. Ebi.... so sad.   Quick, name 5 innovative balls from these lines that anyone uses these days (no fair using recycled names like Heat or Chaos).  You just can't.... and heck, Hammer still living off the Black Widow, Vibe, and Purple Urethane.

Motiv rose from the ashes of the old Brusnwick factory.  Hopefully this brings them more USA-business.  They really make some fine product.

And who knows, maybe another niche product will rise from the ashes once again.  Phoenix Bowling!

The last truly innovative must have Ebonite ball was The One and that was a long time ago. Columbia is in the same boat as Brunswick and DV8 for me, non factors. If I had to throw that stuff I simply would not bowl.

The new Prisms from B look pretty good;  the Conspiracy line from Radical is very good too, as is the Zing.   Purchased the Conspiracy Pearl and a Zing, which are the first B purchased in a really long time.

Threw the Hero (recovery!) in a demo day, as well as the Vintage Vapor Zone (smoooooth) and liked them both.  Some of the others, not so much.

Going to stay out of a brand sniping war but Motiv did build their own factory in Michigan.  You probably knew this but I didn't until recently.

no, money from making Brunswick cores. It's amazing how 1 company couldn't survive in the area but another was able to buy the old machines and get to work right down the street. 10 years later and going strong in Muskegon. Heh, who knew a bowling company could stay profitable 10 years later paying American salaries...

One company survived there for decades.  Business is more then just surviving. Moving production and building a new state of the art facility is more then surviving.  Buying out four brands is more then surviving.  Recalling two high performance bowling balls and almost going out of business because of old equipment is trying to get by and survive. Bowling is shrinking. Surviving just got harder

Brunswick was bought out in 2015. I wonder why? Was it for the same reasons EBI was just bought out?

Better yet, I raise you the recall of 2 bowling balls that you bring up. Did they replace every one with a new ball? And now,are they not a growing force in a shrinking market? Yeah, you can wear your B crown proudly Kidlost, but we all know the clearance section tells the story. B has littered it for years due to over production of unwanted equipment. Now, they will do that with 6 brands as opposed to 3, sans Hammer. Enjoy!

So if I throw Storm/Roto/Global (I throw Global now?), does this make me one of those real Americans that the Hulk Hogan theme song alluded to?  :P

No doubt Motiv makes a good product, but their market share can't be that high, albeit I don't have that data.

And speaking of innovation, Storm bowling, they just recycle cores and covers.  Not bashing them cause again they make a good product also.  EBI has made some GREAT bowling balls in the last few years (Rhodman Pearl, Paradox Black, Black Chaos, Gamebreakers, Web Tour, Purple Urethane) just to name a couple of the greats.

The fact of the matter is bowling is in a decline, and has been for many many years.  I'm interested to see what Brunswick does with all of the brands, they seem committed to success.  And the Mexico thing is a non factor in my opinion.  They produce some really good stuff out of there.

I'm no brand hyper since I throw whatever works for me, but Track has truly come out with a lot of innovative stuff lately!!

Just because YOU don't know about it doesn't mean it is irrelevant! Their Paradox line is superior to a lot of other balls on the market right now, in my opinion! The only manufacturer I'm aware of that has a ball that can give a similar motion to a Paradox is one by the Global folks!

I also own a couple of Logix, of which I have seen no one else throw, and these balls give me a look, no other company has as well!

I love their Triton Elite as well, but hey, that's just me!

Is tempting to grab a Tundra.  If didn't have a ton of dry lane stuff already probably would.  Do have an Ultra Heat going to punch up at some point.  Track really did fly under the radar in the EBI umbrella.

Are they a growing force in a shrinking market?  Ive not seen growth.  Ive seen it from Storm/Roto expanding into amf/global and then into Mexico for production of their product. Ive not seen anything to show growth personally from motiv.  I dont know anything about their sales numbers.  I do know my bags and closet are full of Ebi stuff which is now under my Brunswick crown.  I do know all of the great ebi xouts ive enjoyed over the last 4 years are gone now under the Brunswick crown.  The overseas stuff ive been buying will be gone too. Hope motiv keeps expanding. I dont throw it and dont see that changing anytime soon.

You aren't offending anyone by not throwing a certain company. Enjoy your blems. You will have even more to choose from in the near future.
