Question for those that oppose Bwicks move to Mexico
« on: July 02, 2005, 08:22:41 AM »
I've stated before, I am opposed to the move but I understand the reason behind it.  Their move to Mexico won't prevent me from purchasing equipment from them.

My questions is, for those that are so concerned about american jobs, please answer the questions:

What kind of car do you drive?

What shoes/clothes do you own?

I have a 2003 Saturn(made by GM) and a 1976 GMC Truck.  I have Dr. Martens, Nikes and work boots, all of which are made overseas.  I am sure that the majority of the clothes I buy are made overseas.

I agree, we have no choice to go 100% American when it comes to cars or electronics.  However, Bowing gives us a chance to buy from a 100% American Company.  I also try to buy cars with some maufacturing facilities in the US.

My "Ebonite Eyeball" was "made in China".
My Toyota Tacoma is "made in Fremont, Calif".
My Wife's Beemer is "made in South Carolina".
My wife was "made in Korea" but she's an American Citizen.
Getting kind of hard to decide what's American and what isn't.

my honda civic was made in this country by americans, sold by americans, serviced by americans, etc. 60% of the parts that make up this car come from this country. i believe it's not wise to buy something just because it's made in this country---this is not logical. several months ago general motors announced that their saturn division, in the 13 years it's been in existence, has yet to show a profit. that's not good business, that's poor business. there's no way honda, toyota, or mercedes-benz would tolerate business decisions like that. being an educated buyer is half of "the battle". i will buy a product based upon it's quality and reliability over where it's made or what country owns the company. i know many people who work at ford, general motors, harley-davidson, etc., who constantly chant, "buy usa made", or "buy union or die", etc. yet, their clothing was made elsewhere, their electronics come from somewhere else. if you are truely commited to buying american you need to buy everything american. you can't always have your cake and eat it too.
