How to lay out Fury Pearl
« on: August 17, 2007, 03:05:28 AM »
I plan on getting a fury pearl for league this year for now due to the fact i droped down to 15 lbs.

My question to everyone is what layout should i choose.
Axis is 4 7/8 over 1/2 up
Speed 16 mph
around 300 revs
Bowling on Synthetic lanes on a ThS.

Im looking for a strong reaction down lane but not to flippy, something that will give me a controled strong arc.

What length pin should i use, and what topweight should i use ?

How bout a 4.5 inch pin to pap, pin down, small hole below your axis (on the VAL)?

Use a 2"-3" pin out ball, whatever top weight you get is fine. 5" pin to PAP, below fingers. Set it up with 3/4" pos side and throw it first before you drill a weight hole in it.

Check the flare rings to make sure they're not too close together. Drill flare increasing weight hole if necessary.

Then adjust surface to fine tune the reaction.

This is my favorite layout 4 1/2 pin to pap pin under ringfinger CG kicked out put the MB around 3 inches away from my thumb my favorite layout put the X-hole between the thumb and centerline which is 1 inch below center line grip this works for me but I dunno about you. I also had 15/16 of side weight but I never drilled this ball though.

I'm defently going pin under to give me a earler more controlable arc, most balls i put pin over bridge tend to get to over under for me. Perhaps another ball in brunswicks line would fit the reaction im looking for better . I was also considering the sidewinder. Input is welcome

Ric, maybe he wasn't here for the past MONTH. LOL.

Zone, I would definetly go with the Sidewinder if you really want a nice controllable, arcing reaction. Particle/Pearls are the way to go with that. I really love them for a controllable, yet strong move in the back. It's control while covering a good amount of boards at the same time. That's the kind of bowling ball I like! Hope this helps!

EDIT for grammar mistake.
