i have an old Johnny Petraglia lt48 rubber ball and i am wondering if anyone out there has ever tried to have this ball polished up? i want to polish mine, but this ball is such a bleeder that i am worried that the polish will sweat right off of it. this ball bleeds with the slightest temperature change and the pro shop guy said that the heat generated on the spinner might be a problem with trying to polish it also. just looking for some ideas.

If this ball from the past has sentimental value thats great and understandable, but you should make it a trophy and retire it.  Every day you try to use this ball your giving your opponent an additional handicap.  Shiny urethane or a dead reactive would be your best option for lanes that are totally out of control.  One of your teammates probably has a ball he will donate to you.

Polish is not applied onto the ball like paint or polyurethane. It changes the surfaces to smooth it out the peaks and valleys of the surface and "polish" it. Polish will never "sweat" off a ball. Like DougS said, save it. Rubber is not the ball of choice today except as a spare ball. Heck, send it to me and I'll ask Johnny to autograph it for you. I see him every once in a while at my driller's place.

We havea number of these at bowling center as "house balls"..

They are darts on todays surfaces even if the lanes are "bone dry"..

I have mine out in the garden along with my Black Diamond and Roto-Star RC3..

yea your best bet is a luster king. they can make it look shiney, a ball spinner and polishes won't get much of a luster on it. you need wax not polish.

My old Manhattan Rubber ball is retired but I used to get 7 to 12 boards hook out of it on synthetics. The hook wasn't the reason it got retired. It just didn't carry that much better than my spare ball did - a lot of 2 pin spares.

This one looks the same as mine. With slower speed, lots of hand, and correct angle they can carry - a lot of work though

hey, thanks for all of the responses regarding the LT48, but i will not be making it a trophy. i like to take the LT to one of the local houses because the returns and the lanes are hard on the equipment. i don't like to use my better stuff there. i only open bowl with this ball, so all you leaguers don't worry about my teammates. i am going to try to polish the LT up, and we'll see what happens. if i don't polish it, it just rolls out early. when i first got the ball i had it resurfaced and it hit and carried a lot better. no it is not a flashy monster ball, but what do i have to lose.

I've got an LT 48 I've been keeping all these years just to have it autographed, but we're never in the same place at the same time, it seems.  And nobody comes to south Florida for bowling any more.  I keep hoping for a senior tour appearance even in the same state, let alone the same area, but it doesn't happen.

Doesn't Tommy Hudson and Bo Burton stay in Florida some where. I heard somewhere that Tommy has a pro shop down there.
