Brunswick Nexus f(P+F) solid vs. Storm Gravity Nano (not pearl)
« on: December 14, 2011, 04:41:06 AM »
I'm planning on purchasing a new ball, but can't decide between the Brunswick Nexus f(P+F) solid or the Storm Gravity Nano (not pearl). Which ball has the potential to hook more?

you might want to check out the Roto Grip - Defiant -- looks like it will be better than both!

Nexus hooks on oil, and continues to hook through the pins. :)

Early feedback has the Nexus with slightly more hook than Nano...

Can't go wrong with either model...

Also the Dark Encounter is coming soon... It's a Beast....

I love my Nano Solid polished and I love the looks of the Nexus Pearl in my ball driller's hands. That Nexus Pearl turns the corner and blows out the rack like no Brunswick ball I have seen in the past. When that Nexus Pesrl turns the corner, Id mean it turns and it never quits and has a continuation thru the rack that is second to none. I've asked my driller to sell that Nexus Pearl to me when he is done with it....Hope he doesn't forget that I asked for it.

In side by side comparisons, with identical layouts and surface prep, the Nexus Solid out hooked the Nano by 3 to 5 boards, and most of that was on the backends. I saw it firsthand this past week.

A bowling ball does NOT hook in oil...it slows down but does NOT hook.

I don't really understand the question.  Is the OP equating most hook with being a better ball?  Nothing could be further from the truth.

And to do a TRUE comparison, both balls should be drilled at the same time with the same finishing surface and thrown the same amount of times. Merely saying that one was thrown up against another does not render a true test or comparison.

If you post this in the Storm forum, you will get similar responses from Storm staffers and possibly employees stating the Nano is the ball....

If you have likes or don't likes from either company I would trend towards that company. Brunswick tend to be smoother response to friction although the Nexus covers due appear to be a quicker response and Storm covers are a much stronger response to friction by nature. The other variable is that the Nano has been out longer so there are more being thrown in comparison.

For most these days they assume more hook equals bigger scores. Spares and less opens with whatever ball they are bowling with would probably equal bigger scores and a higher average. Since that requires practice I'm guessing the more hook idea is the next best thing. Less is really more.
