Well I was set on a diamondback until I just heard a local pro shop guy saying he stopped selling them because 60% of them were returned from being defective. Such as the core not being filled or there are air pockets inside the ball itself where alot of ppl have found air holes some as big as a pencil when drilling out the finger holes.

Is this a concern because I'm on my way to order a ball now but don't want to deal with these issues at all

I have had almost every Brunswick ball produce in Mexico and I have not had any problems with any of them. If it concerns you that much than dont buy it.

Have drilled many at our shop, no issues, just great performance

won''t mention the companies name, but just drilled a fragranced ball
monday, to my and the customers surprise, many voids in the filler, some the
size of a large pea

we each of us can only tell you our individual experiences with the few balls we have drilled for ourselves (I''ve had 5 from Mexico with zero problems). I think it''s a shame when a pro shop who CAN have lots of experience with one company tells you an outright lie like "60% failed". That is quite obvious a lie. It makes you wonder what his unspoken agenda is.

Also obviously there were start-up problems as there are in any new assembly line. Now several years later, do you really think Brunswick (and MoRich) would allow such a dismal quality rate to continue? Do you think they are planning to go out of business and don''t care about their reputation. That would make ZERO business sense.

There are going to bad balls with every company, right after the move I did hear of more Big B issues from my Pro Shop guy but now that things have settled in for them I haven't seen anymore or less issues with ANY company when it comes to quality.

Would like to mention that no matter where you buy from if there was a problem I would suggest contacting Brunswick. I have been very happy with their great customer service when it came to getting a ball replaced.

Mine was a first quality ball that had a logo problem. Bought it from an individual online who had bought it from bowlingball.com
I was able to exchange it with out problem. The people at Brunswick were great. In anything you deal with, great customer service makes a huge difference.

I have drilled up 3 Brunwick Mexico balls with no problem with the interior.
I would double check the cg though cause two of the balls I got had 2 or 3 puch marks for the cg..

How long has it been.... 3 or 4 years....

Have not had one defective Brunswick ball yet, since the move...

And I would say their plastic line never looked better....

I've drilled close to seventy if not more US releases and a dozen International releases since their move to Mexico in '06. Only had one with a core issue, that was a WildRide TE. It had a really hard core in one spot. My biggest problem with Brunswick is their decision this year not to offer equipment at a discount to PBA members. I'll still buy their stuff but not directly from them as I use to.

I've said it before, I will say it again. Working for a MAJOR distributor, I see ALL companies returns for defects. BY FAR, Brunswick produced equipment have far fewer returns for manufacturing defects, including the supposed issues mj79 mentioned, than any other manufacturer.

Yes I did used to work for Brunswick. Yes they did have significant PERFORMANCE, and some mismarked cg issues for a period of time after the move. But, as I have also said before, if anyone has a beef with Brunswick, it would be myself & JustRico. Now, we both work for LARGE customers of Brunswick. I can't speak for Rico, but as I stated above, I see far fewer manufacturing defects from Brunswick than any other manufacturer.

nocarey, in speaking with several Brunswick employee's about the decision to no longer offer new releases to the PBA membership, they all stated it was because of a select few, who would buy the balls from the PBA offer, and put them up for sale on Ebay. These offers are strictly for the personal use of the PBA member that ordered them.

So a few bad apples spoiled it for everyone. So if you know any of these individuals, "thank" them for their selfishness.

Wow, thanks everyone for the info.. Yes I just "heard" about these things, I wasn't trying to put any company down, just wondered what had happened.. Well Even tho I dont like the fact that its not "Made in the USA" anymore I stuck to my guns and ordered my Diamondback. I can't wait to get into bowling again, Just a good time to hang with friends and play a great sport that doesnt get alot of attn anymore..

I have owned 2 Brunswick balls made in Mexico and both were first rate quality as well as first rate in performance.

Yea man, I cant wait to get back in the game again.. Got the diamond back ( and Ill be adding another strike ball soon

) need to get a new bag, some new shoes and a spare ball and Ill FINALLY be ready to start practicing for leagues!!

I have thrown MoRich which is made in Mexico by Brunswick and have had NO issues.
