anyone else hate the factory compound finish?
« on: February 17, 2019, 12:05:07 PM »
I can’t stand the factory compound finish. I will usually give it a few games but always end up changing the surface. My latest experiment is with the fearless. So far not impressed with the compound finish.

Not a big fan of factory but love using compound myself as its cheaper and faster and I do match up with it for many balls.  Noticed BTM tends to not always give great reviews of Brunswick compound finished balls in general (see Black Quantum) so you are probably not alone.

I’m with you (you pretty much summed it up).  The minute i get my ball, the polish is INSTANTLY GONE, my polish will always be a wet 4000 pad, problem solved.

I think I'm an exception because I like the Brunswick factory compound finish.

Maybe you’re just like me and don’t like anything polished and always add surface

Sheesh, guys. With so many variables in a bowling release, If there are 1000 people throwing one ball with the OOB finish, at least 750 of them will have virtually a unique ball reaction and path. Even if some use the same finish, the drilling will be different.

So very, very, very many variables. It's a minor miracle here when 2 people actually like the same ball on the same amount of oil.

I love the factory polish that Brunswick uses.  I have changed the surface several times but if that is what I want I love the Factory compound!

I’m with you lefty. 4000 wet sand, no polish is where it’s at.

I am in the club of people that loves the Brunswick factory compound finish.  In fact, I have used the 500 + compound finish on other non-Brunswick balls and have had great success with it.  I have found this finish to be absolute money on both fresh and broken down house conditions.

I save my duller finish stuff for heavier lane oil or severe carry down situations.  Sometimes you bowl against the team of fun seekers throwing plastic from previous have-a-ball leagues, or house balls, and the pattern simply goes away.  That's when the stronger, duller surfaced stuff really saves you!
