New Brunswick Bowler Help!

Hi all,
 
I am just switching styles over to a no thumb release due to some serious thumb trouble, and need some help. I have a Twisted Fury Destruction drilled label, and have managed to get a hold of an undrilled Revolver and Avalanche Green/Black so I can throw all Brusnwick. I throw around 14.5 mph, with a fair amount of revs due to the no thumb release, and I was wondering what layouts I should have on these balls to complement my Twisted Fury and my plastic ball? Any advice appreciated greatly guys!

How is the Destruction laid out?  What kind of reaction does it give you now, and on which conditions does it work best for you?

Its drilled with layout 2L from the Brunswick drill sheet, and although I have not had much opportunity to use it on a wide range of patterns since switching over to No-Thumb, it seems to me that its been most effective on longer oils / heavier patterns so far.

Well, if you're using a Twisty Destruction on longer and heavier...I'm not quite sure what you would do with a Revolver, because even polished, it's a *lot* stronger than the TFD is.  You could try a layout with the pin closer to the PAP, if you're looking to smooth out an over-under with it, or if you want a more even reaction from front to back.

 

As for the Av Pearl, you could lay it out the same way as the TFD, and you'd get a shape that is similar, but with less overall hook.

 

If you're seeking different reaction shapes from what I described, let us know.

I'm inclined to agree with Ray. I'm not used to seeing guys with a no-thumb release having a smooth reaction at all.

 

Going with a Revolver that has a MUCH stronger cover should help a lot, but unless you're seeing some real volume of oil you'll probably need some polish on it (which doesn't smooth out the reaction). Layouts that help smooth out reaction, especially late on the lane, will probably need to be with the pin closer to your PAP. Good luck, and let us know if you need more ideas. It's always a bit of a guessing game since we can't see you bowl, and experience your lane conditions firsthand, but we are willing to help anytime.
