Bought the Groove Urethane about a month ago and thanks to some help from Triplicate off of bowlingchat I was able to confirm my thoughts on the Rico layout slightly modified to work.

After drilling and testing the ball I was very pleased. It is great for spares on oil or dry conditions. It is also very useful and a strike ball which was my other hope with the layout. I liked the ball so much I bought a second one.

Then I added the Avalanche Urethane to my arsenal and it has been impressive.

This video shows the Red Groove Urethane, Avalanche Urethane and  Strike King all on the same condition and layout.

I'm gonna have to get me a Urethane and try it out, I really love the way they roll and might be perfect for my bottom end.

Kid,

Trust you to do something different yet still interesting. Excellent video. Everyone should follow your example of how to make a video: direct, simple, self-explanatory and descriptive. No one need ask any questions about what you did and why you did it.

Yes, good video.  Something else that would be interesting - one or two shots with all three balls on exactly the same line.  Say, pick the line used to hit the pocket with the Avalanche and throw the other two on that line to show the differences in another way.  --  JohnP

Thanks, I'm glad people are enjoying the video. The Strike King and others I have drilled have been a good excuse to practice more then normal over the summer. Usually it is golf only.

I have wanted the Avalanche Urethane for a long time and after lucking into the red Groove and liking it so much I had to get the AU next.

The video was shot over 3 games in order. A few frames warm up using the Groove and then I started filming. The Groove has to have some friction or it will skid for days with any ball speed. The box surface isn't sanded its polished. The AU allowed me to move in some and still belly the ball out to the gutter. I also had room to pull it more and still recover which is evident by the first shot of me throwing it. I wanted a multiple purpose spare ball for this house the video is shot in. It is a drier house and I did not want plastic.

I like JohnPs idea and I have footage that shows pretty close to what he is mentioning. The Groove with speed adjustment could hang around the area of the AU but when thrown at the same speed will not recover in the oil. My first pitch when finally switching to the Strike King was about 5 boards left from the AU and it checked earlier and went left hard. I was not expecting that to happen. Throwing just the other two balls to start made it feel like there was some oil out there. Technology said otherwise. I ended up moving much deeper with the Strike King to stay in the pocket.

Next ball I want since they are discontinued is the red Slingshot. If you guessed the Rico pattern you would be correct. After throwing a Sapphire Zone back many years ago on that layout it has been one of my favorites. PK17 is it a good fit for it.

Nice job with the video.

I, too, am impressed with my Strike King (Rico) because I can play close to friction and not sacrifice hit.  (My Avalanche Urethane stays close by at all times because I bowl a second shift league and it's money on the dry.)
