Question on drilling C-system alpha max
« on: August 01, 2013, 07:49:20 PM »
Just purchased new C- System alpha max and need some advice on drilling pattern. I do not put my thumb in the ball so I already get a ton or revs.  Should I get this ball drilled fairly neutral?  Normal lane conditions are house pattern mid oil.  Does it matter if thumb is out on drill pattern?  If I have it drilled for mid lane hook with back end will I be able to keep this thing on the lane? Ball hook potential is 180 out of 185.

My Alpha-Max had a smooth arcing type of roll and not a skid / snap reaction which was drilled with the pin up. With it's Solid coverstock, it takes well to surface changes which will help match it up better after it is drilled. I would suggest a pin up drilling with the mass bias near the thumb which will allow it to get some length but still have some downlane reaction. The pro shop would more than likely put a thumb hole in it to make it legal.
