thats cool. The groove line really lasted a long time with great performance. This should be a hit, especially with the PK17 cover.

Looks nice. Would like to see a future release with a lower RG core as well hopefully. Would be a good combination with such a great cover. Or that may fall in the Avalanche line.
Is there a link to a larger pic available?

Nice - should be more consistent shot to shot than the Groove. Might be something to bring in under my Eliminator, Avalanche Solid, and Slide. Do you remember when we all complained about too much oil on the lanes? Be careful what you wish for - now I look forward to the rare night when we have "heavy oil" on the house shot and I can use the Eliminator.
I might add that when bowling with 7 other bowlers using the latest and greatest hook monsters I have had good success moving down in ball strength.

Balls look great I like the python colored one. Wish the black one was urethane though :/

They will all be Pearlized PK17 to start out.

RG is good, but would have liked to see a little more differential for a little more continuation. Looks like a very rolly core.
Pork Roll 17 is always welcome.

I think since it's designed to replace the Power Groove line, they probably wanted something not too crazy, yet a nice ball.
Frankly, these are probably designed to compete against the Freeze, which has been one of the easiest balls to sell on the market due to the low price point and overall value. The advantage will be that it's a Brunswick coverstock known for their unprecedented durability. Personally, I think we'll sell a ton of them.

Pretty low differential, but finally a PK17 ball with a core! But still with a pretty high RG - looks as if it was "tamer" than a PG it replaces? Rather a ball for no-revs beginners?

Urethane ball will be released in the avalanche series. So before everyone starts to ask where is the urethane groove, there will still be a urethane option.

Just going by the numbers I would think the Roto Grip Planets would be the closest comparison - and those were all excellent - even with, or more likely because of the numbers

Is the power groove going to be discountinued soon? I've been thinking of getting the purple/black one.
-
One of the product specialists just told me it looks like a Danger Zone on the lane. Not weak by any stretch.
Too often we just look at "numbers" and decide yes or no on a ball before it's released. Reserve judgement on this one until it's been out for at least a day or so.

You may have just sold me another Brunswick ball. I've looked really hard at the last pearl Avalanche, but didn't want a strong, PK18 reaction.
PK17 on a rolly core? Really looks nice.

How will the price from my distributor compare to the PG's? -- JohnP

Might be something I decide to pickup, I am looking for a ball that is smooth and easy to handle.

A urethane ball in the Avalanche series is
gonna be a real winner in my eyes.
--------------------
2nd place is only the first loser(John Force)

Looks like something you'd be able to really YANK ON at the bottom and have it "stay still" for 40 feet. THat's always a winner in my book.

I have seen this ball thrown in test form. Since we didn't know what it was excatly just watching the ball go threw the pins it seemed to me to be a weaker core ball. Didn't blow the rack just went the pins like a ball should imho. It didn't overeact off the dry either just a really clean look going down the lane.
It should give the Freeze some competition, to bad it wont come out any earlier league's are almost over.

Holy cow, I may have to pick up one of those, too. Right now I use an old pin down Speed Demon Zone for a very urethane-like reaction on an old wood house where I bowl my main league currently, I think this would be a good replacement.

Nick, did these ship on time? Some on one of the online sites that they wouldn't be available until March 31st.

Those of you considering the Slingshot that haven't looked at the Avalanche Slide should check it out. If fills most of the slot the Slingshot would have in my bag. It is a great down and in ball when that is where you need to play the lanes. It is also a decent dry lanes ball - even works well in carrydown. Surprisingly to me it even works well on oil from the outside corner.
-
We have in stock NOW and are ready to sale.....

first of all is this replacing the Power Groove line? second of all what advantages would these balls have over the Power Groove?
-
The Slingshot will be replacing the Power Groove line.
Slingshot has a 2 piece core that has a lower RG than the Power Groove for better mid lane control and also a lower diff for easy length.
The 2 piece core will have stronger hitting power than the original Power Groove core.
If you've ever needed a ball for those dry lanes this will be an excellent choice.

The core has nothing to do with the strength a bowling ball hits. One bowling ball does not hit harder than another. One may have a slightly higher CoR but one ball hitting harder than another is a misnomer. If you are using the proper ball on the proper lane conditions equates to the bowling performing properly. Also a bowling ball that carries properly has a certain amount of deflection. A bowling ball that is still driving when it hits the pins generally will not carry.

I'm very curious about this ball. Do you think it would fit in my line up?
900 Global Break S75
Visionary Gladiator Pearl
Ebonite NVS
Brunswick Fury Solid
I have a 2 Radical Infernos hanging out in the bag at home for now, I just need to change the pitch of fingers on one that's drilled with pin up. Other one needs to be resurfaced badly, it got chewed up a little in a ball return a year ago, but has been patched. Oh and a Storm Xfactor that's on it's last leg. Its been resurfaced so many times the etching is starting to come off...eeek!
What do you all think?

I think if you're looking for a ball weaker than anything you already have, then it would fit.
PK 17 is reasonably mild. You couple that with a rolly, lower diff core, and the results SHOULD be something you could use on drier conditions.

Yeah looking for a ball that will fill my line up out. I know I've got the strong balls covered. Looking for something weaker to play on down and in shot on a THS. This seems like it would fit the bill. And its CHEAP for what it appears to be.
-
I can't wait to get mine. I love my chrome/yellow groove. I hope to love my black/silver slingshot as much. My groove is a fantastic third game ball. It is beat up, chewed up, tracked up by old wood, but still hits just as hard as the day I got it. Which is just as hard as any other balls I have. It's all about matching up.

How rolly is this ball with a traditional layout?
What do you think about a 1 to 1 1/2 pin to pap layout... ?

Would IMHO result in a very straight ball. Such a setup is really rolly, and coupled with the low differential I think you just get that much hook out of it that you impart through side rotation. The higher RG should help it getting down the lane, but I think you'd have to play it aggressively to get a decent reaction out of it. Probably good for straight down 2nd arrow and a shallow entry angle, but I am not sure if the pin that close to the PAP sacrifises too much hitting power duie to the rolling tendency. I am sceptical.

makes sense..I figured it would do whatever you put into it.. maybe really too weak..
So you think just drill it leverage and go with it..?
Do you think any drill that you put on it will make it the weakest Brunswick in the bag?
