Brunswick Strike King
« on: July 30, 2013, 09:57:46 AM »
Being new to the Brunswick family, I am excited to give the following. Of course these statements are solely the views of the writer. The new Strike King has out performed my expectations. Being left handed, 345 rr, 17mph off hand, 11.5 and 48 rotation, I wanted a ball that was a little more aggressive than the Slingshot yet not be too aggressive off the spot. I drilled the King, 52x4x48. This ball is unbelievable. On a THS, 40' Ice oil, synthetic anvilane approx 8 years old. The ball gave me a great look up 5bd. The ball was very smooth in transition off the break point at 40'. This ball hits like a TRUCK!!! Believe me , I never thought the ball would have that reaction without the hockey stick look. Carry with this ball is phenominal. I stoned 4, 7 pins all night during league. 221, 257 and 248. I moved only 1-1/2 "LEFT", that's correct, LEFT the whole night. The ball is very predictive with very smooth transitions. If you are looking for a ball with ease of transition and able to kick out the corners, please, allow yourself to try the Strike King by Brunswick. I believe you WILL NOT be disappointed. Bowl well Bowl often.

Forgive my ignorance, could you tell me where the pin is located on the ball? Above or below the fingers, next to the ring finger etc.. Thanks

Hey Jesse, there is mo such thing, in my book, that states an ignorant question or reply. My pin, based on my PAP, 4 3/4X1" UP, puts the pin, just above my ring finger, approx., 1/4". I have the fingers pitched forward 1/4 on this ball. If u draw a center line between your fingers to the center of your thumb, the Cg is 2" left of my center span and 3/4" up. Keep in mind that warranties require a minimum, I believe, of 1" pin away from the drill holes. In my opinion, a great addition to Brunswick' arsenal of pin killer equipment. Hope this helps.

Doogie,

I don't have mine yet, BUT I was impressed on first sighting.  In our house our sample no thumber was deeper than the 3rd arrow and getting a definitive angular move and Crack at the pins with his 16 pounder!

I was impressed.

Yes sir Lucky Lefty. You are correct. this new pin killer in Brunswicks arsenal is definitely a winner. As explained, it is a replacement for the discontinued Slingshot. But this rock as is stated in Brunswick's reviews, is a much stronger ball than it's predecessor. I have drilled 2, one with 50x3x45 the other, 55x4 1/2x 60. The ball reacted completely different with each drill. The latter drill layout allows the ball to go longer and smoother off the spot. The first drill layout causes the reaction to much more angular. Wow!!! A piece of equipment that can be seriously added to your arsenal and truly create two different entries. Allows you to be much more versatile. Bowl well, bowl often but what ever you do Bowl with the best family in bowling BRUNSWICK!!!!. HIGH SCORES!!!!

My My,

I just received my ball from my Bowlmor league!

I had seen the black and the orange cover versions but ordered something different the red and blue.  Gorgeous!  I don't know if I have seen a better looking ball.

Similar in look  to my Damage but somehow hotter!  Perfect specs(imagine that! they laughed when I asked for specs but gave them!).

If there is a better looking ball on the lanes this year, I haven't seen it!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS the coverstock does feel very similar to my UltiMax!  Can't wait to see it break.  I have it's move in my pictured how it will fit on the lanes.

Glad u r pleased with the Strike King look. The reaction  compliments the look. "Awesome". Keep  viewing this and other sites. I am beginning ball reviews which will include all the Brunswick line of performance equipment and will be down loading video analysis along with layout specs. These should begin around the middle of September. Have a great season.

Got it had it drilled by our local IPSIA pro and a fella I took a great lesson from a few days ago before I had it drilled.

He decided on a drilling a touch weaker that I would have preferred based on my usual idea of drill low flare cores stronger and strong cores weaker.
5 inch pin to pap (above my ring finger) and cg 5 1/4 from pap.  In today's dual angle terminology, probably a 60X5X45.

Walked in grabbed the ball after he tweaked some pitches slightly different from my norm and starting throwing before league.  Immediately I was not very accurate and the ball had lots of easy length, good archy pop off the backend and was throwing lots of strikes off my errant throws.

I call this house shot the perfect light application top hat.  Slightly wet dry, always friction to the outsides.

Squared up to the pocket on virtually every toss to the left and maybe left 1 7 pins.
Hit the mark it carried every time.  Pulls it slid and left one or two flat 7s.

Never really through the ball that well all night and was right near 17 18 strikes for the league set without really bevel or tape to correct fit in the ball.  All over the lanes with self correction and POP!

Bottom line.  This ball has so much pop off the spot in back compared to the Slingshot one can see why this is probably the low priced steal of the year!  I may pick up another.  The SlingShot has it's place especially on stronger backs!

A lot of reminders of my UltiMax.  That for the medium volume 43 foot shot, this for the 38 foot shot with it's go long core and similar to UltiMax or Damage coverstock.

Long and poppy at the back.  I may pick up another!

Luckylefty

Great sir!! Yes, the ball is much stronger than the "Shot"!! I had one of mine, 50x3.75x
55. Not a bad  read. Ball was really smooth through the heads on the great and clean through the middle, but was a little stronger than I preferred off the spot So, the next one I put 55x4.25x, get this, 60. A 38' THS. Using new ICE conditioner. Let me tell you, that is one of the cleanest, driving piece of equipment I have ever thrown. 278, 237 and 240. I was totally sold on this layout. Remarkable layout. Glad u are pleased with the piece. Keep me posted. Drilling the new Beatdown. Headed to Fla. Have a great weekend. "Brunswick", "It will change your game for the better"!!!!

This ball seems to be the sleeper of the year for Brunswick. Might have to get one and put a MOtion hole on it.

I think this is what I wanted the Meanstreak to be, but that ball didn't have the hook and backend I wanted. I also wonder how much it would overlap (if any) with my Gold Rhino Pro.

I'm in Fla at an Invitational tournament. I used the Brawler to start the day. 239,219,247. Then switched to the King. 679, 739. The ball is wicked smooth with very smooth movement off the the transition . Very good movement. We will c what tommorrow brings.
