In his video BTU looks much stronger down lane.Not sure what layout BTU has.The True motion was a pin down layout and looked smooth.I had a solid BTU and was not impressed at all.Polished it was as strong as any medium ball.Surface calmed it down but nothing any other medium solid wont do with surface.Sold it and have not looked back.

I was going to ask about the True Motion also as I have been using the BTU all summer and so far all Winter at least when the oil allows me to.

In fact I loved the BTU so much that I bought another one so I have both drilled pin down and I keep one dull and one polished. However, the polished one doesn't get used to often.

So when I saw Big B releasing a stronger urethane I was very happy about that, so whats the verdict on the True Motion? is it stronger then the BTU and if so I'll be getting one.

My experience with the BTU, it was overly strong. Its not a true urethane like the 'True Motion' is supposed to be so my guess, it will be smoother than the BTU Solid. I love my BTU Pearl and probably get 2 True Motions and keep one polished and one at 2000. Maybe even get a BTU solid again and have a nice 4 ball league arsenal.

You guys do realize that the BTU is NOT urethane, don't you?

Brunswick never said it was urethane. It has always been and will continue to be resin. Its reaction is more "urethane-like", with its stock surface. That does not mean it is urethane; only that its ball reaction is closer to urethane than virtually all other resins. But, like any resin, when polished, its breakpoint will get more and more sharp.

I think we all know the the BTU is not urethane. At least i do. Thats why i said its not a true urethane in the sense. I simply said its pretty strong from my experience. Im curious as to the real world difference in the asym vs sym urethanes.

BTU literally stands for "better than urethane", and in my opinion, no it is not. I could never get a consistent reaction out of the ball and I tried different surfaces. My son now has it, but he doesn't use it much. I'll stick to real urethane if I want urethane reaction.

It is not even claimed to be urethane, like the current Blue Hammer is claimed ot be urethane. AT best the Blue hammer is a resin/urethane blend. The BTU has always claimed to be resin.

Most "true" urethanes seem to have relatively low RG differentials, except for the Visionary Crow.
The first asymmetric urethane, the Hot Cell, seems to have a very strong, high differential core and strong mass bias. That will make it flare much,much more and be much earlier than any symmetric "true" urethane. Not sure if there are currently any other asymmetric urethanes currently on the market. We'd have to see what their design is and what their core specs are.

Could it be how you drilled it?

I made a mistake with mine and put the pin over the ring, causing a go long and hook quite a lot reaction that I didn't intend. I thought it would be more urethane lik than I found it to be. While the drilling was a mistake on my part, It was closer to resin than to urethane but still very controllable. I was just looking for something closer to urethane and I should have drilled it with a larger VAL angle (pin under type of drill).

 Yes I do. But we all know that the ball is called 'Fanatic BTU' which we know is Better Than Urethane and it DOES roll like a urethane which I could care less if the ball was pure rubber

 It rolls great for me in the house where I roll. Like I said before, I liked the BTU so much that I have two, one is dull, pin down and the other is polished, pin down.

 The reason I was hoping that this new ball is a little stronger then the BTU is because I can use it for the first game when conditions exist and then bring out the house killer ball my BTU and finish the night.

 The reason I want a ball similar to the BTU is I cant find a reactive which doesn't go over/under on me whereas my BTU is a great control ball which cuts right through the
messy conditions at least at the house where I bowl.

 Probably the main reason is that I am older now and I cant throw 18+ mph with 400 revs to get through that like the kids can :) so the BTU and a true urethane have done wonders for me since.

 I did get the original MOTIV Tank when it came out and it was money too but my house puts down just enough condition  now to take out that ball for me so thats why I tried the BTU when it came out...

BigJake have you considered a Magnitude 035 with a mid to lower pin placement to calm it down?  My pin in ring 035 gives me a similar shape to my pin down BTU but with just a little more overall shape and hook.

Bowl_Freak I have seen quite a few people have difficulty with their pin up original BTU's overhooking.  The base cover on that ball is the same one used on the original Nirvana and with a dynamic layout can be pretty strong.  I highly recommend redrilling it pin down to calm it down and from there don't be afraid to give it a little scuff.  My pin down is much cleaner through the mids with a far safer move down the lane that splits the difference in my bag between urethane and my midrange solids.

 Hi Brandon, When I saw the Magnitude 035 I thought about it but I thought that it would be to strong for me but I think I'll take your advice...wish me Luck :)

Awesome Big Jake.  The 035 is a reasonably strong ball, but the lower diff core and a lower pin layout should keep it from going too sideways down the lane.

Buddies has this ball for $115 as a Black Friday sale.  Good urethane option for Brunswick fans for a darn good price.  Still don't regret picking up my Crow months ago though if I am honest.
