Title: Brunswick, why are you DCing the Original inferno???
Post by: Bjaardker on April 03, 2005, 04:34:29 AM
I'm a Big B fan, I like the smooth roll I get from most of their stuff. All but one ball in my bag is Brunswick & that one was made in a brunswick factory (lane #1).

However, what reason does Brunswick have to discontinue the original inferno?

It's still one of the most consistant balls out there, it's a favorite of nearly everyone who's thrown it. It does everything that all of the other balls out there do, and it's seen almost more than any other ball on "the show".

What reason other than having another "flavor of the month" could they have?

I mean even the biggest "ball of the month club" company, ebonite, kept their "legendary" ball the V2 sanded around for years.

Come on Big B, don't be a bunch of losers. Remember the "zone" fiasco of the mid-late ninetys??? Don't fall prey to that trap again.

The ball has been out for a few years. That probably is why. Yes it still sells well but after being out for a few years companies will discontinue stuff.

Does this mean they're going to release another ball in the Inferno line to make up for the OI?  Or is Brunswick gonna be coming out with a new High-Performance line in time for next season?  Either situation would be pretty darn cool!

Rumor had it from a close friend who is tight with Brunswick that the Absolute was the last of the Infernos.

Allegedly Bi B has a new high performance line coming up in the Fall.

Simple, brunswick is in the business of making money. They can do this much easier if they just come out with a ball with a new name, new color, and similar roll to the inferno so that league bowlers, who often don't know better, will buy the next best thing instead of their old inferno again. How often did you want to buy the exact same ball when you were a one ball a year person (if any of you remember those times)?

This ball is being discontinued for the same reasons the RotoGrip Silver Streak is being DC. it's a huge conspircy forcing companies to produce stuff that is crap so they can lower the scoring pace to the way it was in the early days........just kidding!

it's evolution, product shelf live for balls is a tricky balance. i doubt an original inferno for the first series is still sitting on a shelf somewhere. yes the ball is not just great it's evolutionary in and of itself. But there will and is better things out there if not right at this instant, they will come sooner or later.

polish an absolute and tell me how much different it is compared to an original inferno. with a polished absolute you'd have a ball that would do a better job than the Intense does.

I must say a big difference.. I have an Inferno and a Absolute drilled nearly the same.. Polished up the AI one day.. Got about 3 ft further down lane before breaking.. That's a significant difference for my game.. Gone back to box-finish..
It's gotta be the A+ shell that makes the big difference..

No doubt it's better than the Intense.. A Punisher is now doing what the Intense was supposed to..
I've sanded my Intense down to about 1200.. Smoother, more controllable, still handles head-breakdown and much more oil.. Looks better sanded in my opinion..
Pretty funny, cos people ask me why i got me a Killer Instict Sanded, since i like throwing Big B..
Now it's actually a great ball for when my Ultimate Inferno starts reading too early..
