Brunswick/DV8/Radical going O-for-Summer Swing?
« on: May 12, 2015, 07:10:45 PM »
Unless Patrick Allen has some agreement with Brunswick, it appears Brunswick/DV8/Radical has produced a big ol' goose egg so far this week in Oklahoma after the Wolf and Bear pattern qualifying.

Sure, you can talk numbers. But come on . . .

I don't get these posts.

What you're really saying is Bohn, Rash, Sterner, Ciminelli and Hess are having a bad week.   That is not a reflection of the quality of bowling balls but rather your limited understanding of the game.

My intent was not to bash Brunswick/DV8/Radical. If anything, I was stunned to see that there had not been a bowler using Brunswick/DV8/Radical equipment cash thus far in Oklahoma.

It could very well be a bad week. It could be that they've had matching up issues. Then again, it's my understanding the scoring pace is lower than last year and that could be a function of what oil they're putting out there, how much volume, or how much lane friction there is. But as of this writing (I'm watching Xtra Frame while at work), I see there are bowlers who are using Brunswick/DV8/Radical equipment faring much better thus far -- John Van Hees, for example, was leading his block after the first game with a 267.

Of a personal note, if anyone who has read any of my posts, I've never bashed Brunswick/DV8/Radical equipment -- or any other for that matter -- on this message board. I mean, after all, since returning to bowling back in January.2014 (after being away for 18 years), all of my primary tournament pieces (minus my spare ball) are Brunswick or Radical.

from what I'm seeing, their equipment just isn't hitting all ten, seems like leaving some kind of pin every other shot.

That's why I asked.  I don't see you as a "basher", but open questions are sometimes the way those things start.

Bowling equipment is weird these days. It is really hard to get a "bad" ball anymore, but you CAN get a terrible matchup, and that can make both the ball AND the bowler look just awful.

Right now, there are some outstanding pieces out there from several companies, so to make your stuff really stand out, you have to hope for that great matchup, and just seems like maybe some guys aren't getting that right now.

Give those magic ball reps a round or two, and they will have something going before you know it. Unlimited access and unlimited supply makes matching up MUCH easier!

Surface is everything.  It also helps to have a large number of bowlers.

Motiv is being shut out too.

Unless someone makes it into the Oklahoma Open show.

Ronnie Russell might be in position to make the show tonight for the Badger

Overall, there appears to be WRW (Badger), Rash (Oklahoma), Sterner (Oklahoma), Ostrander (Oklahoma), Bohn (Badger, Oklahoma), and Valenta (Badger, Oklahoma) earning checks this week.

NHL is right, Motiv fared about the same as Brunswick/DV8/Radical. Ronnie Russell had the best week out of that group, earning checks in all four events. Other Motiv cashers: Newell (Bear, Oklahoma), D. Allen (Badger), Pickford (Oklahoma).

I heard on Xtra Frame that Kyle Troup will be using Motiv equipment for the Wolf show; he also uses Storm equipment (and his father's old Hammers). Mike DeVaney is an independent, but he's been seen using Motiv equipment. On the Motiv board, someone posted that Anthony LaCaze (Badger, Oklahoma) had gone to Ebonite along with Jake Peters, but I recall seeing LaCaze wearing Motiv logos.
