c-system 3.5.........first impression
« on: February 01, 2010, 12:24:39 PM »
i finally got a chance to throw my new c-system 3.5 today after work. i went to the house where i bowl my mixed league at and they had everything ready for me. their kegel kustodian cleaned and oiled a pair of lanes with their typical league shot. this house has 30 year old wood lanes that are in excellent shape and the oil pattern is appx. 38-39'' with very little crown in the middle.

my 3.5 is drilled basically 4 1/2 x 4 1/2( which places the pin right next to the ring finger ). the psa is just below and right of the thumbhole. the x-hole is just below my pap. the balls surface is 2,000 micropad and polished. this is the same set-up on my 2.5.

typically, when starting the evening with the 2.5 my feet will be on 27, the ball will be at 11 at the arrows, and will go out to about 5 before returning. with the 3.5 i decided to stand on 33, hit the arrows at 13, and have the ball go out to about 7. this proved to be a right decision. with medium ball speed and a release with appx. 45 degrees of axis rotation, the 3.5 proved to be a terror. everything i''ve read about this ball is true. it''s like a 2.5 on steroids. ease thru the front part of the lane, pickup in the midlane, and huge backend reaction. the roll and carry is even better than the 2.5

i could miss as far as 4-5 and the ball just wouldn''t quit. i tried to move deeper and use more axis rotation( appx. 60 degrees ) but this proved to be too much backend....too violent and too hard to control. i also tried several shots with more forward roll from a straighter angle and the roll and carry was just as good.

i''ve only thrown the 3.5 once( 5 games )so i''m not ready to give a full report yet but this ball has so much promise that i eagerly look forward to more testing.

Is this ball easy to throw through the breakpoint for someone with high speed and medium to low revs?  Does it have a ton of length like most pearlized balls do?

This ball does have enough length going down the lane but is incredibly hard to throw through the breakpoint with the right surface.  This is a large part of what makes this ball special.

i used my new c-system in league tonite for the first time. this house has 50+ year old wood lanes with the laneshield overlay. the oil pattern is a top hat appx. 40' in length. i knew all the oil in the middle of the lane would get the ball thru the heads with ease and this stored up plenty of energy for a huge backend. this ball is everything brunswick says it is......a 2.5 on steroids.
