Wow bad showing for the C-system 3.5 on TV today
Rash was not getting any carry with it
Machuga was lucky to hit the pocket with his
Nice to see Machuga go with a different ball all together and start playing the inside of the lane though
does anyone have any input on this piece on sport patterns etc. ?

Never thew the ball but rash was way inside never gave it enough room and I love chuge but he was all over the place. I thought is rolled alright that was a tuff shot inside was fried the 505 a was rolling out. That wasnt a fair shot to judge the 3.5. What did lacaze throw the 3rd game I saw he changed his shirt to hammer. What was the ball?

Machuga did not give up on the C-System all together, he was using it on the right lane.

the days of ball sales being influenced by what was on the telecast are long over. it's entirely possible rash was throwing the ball well today( like the missed spares, etc. ). i remember telecasts where marshall holman bowled terrible and nobody blamed the yellow dot he was throwing..........

There will always be someone out there watching ball reactions on TV, and allowing that display to influence whether or not they will buy that ball!
I for one watch ball reactions, just so that I can note which conditions the ball excels on versus a condition that is obviously not conducive to it's useage. I have just recently seen the C-System in action at least three times this week, on various medium oil conditions. Conversely, I also saw the Onyx Vibe being thrown on a medium condition this week as well.
This is info that is vital for me as to whether or not I purchase either piece.

jesse, i know what business you are in. you can't tell me pro shops are selling great amounts of equipment on monday morning like they were in the early to mid 1990's. not anywhere near.

Since both Rash and Machuga both got where they were today by using the C-System (pretty much a forgone conclusion), could the fact that that ball and, for that matter, any ball, did not work, have had more to do with the environment and the lane surface in this once again bizarre stadium-like arena, rather than the bowlers??
The PBA is out of their ever loving mind making them bowl the finals in these SPECIAL (yeah right!) environments, rather than in the house where they competed all week. They did this for 30 years to rather positive results. Why change now, for the sake of a few more dollars in attendance, while making their bowlers look like fools??
Why? because to the PBA corporate executives, the bowlers are just tools to make money, nothing more, nothing less. Thank you, PBA!

They did not bowl on an arena setting, it was at the house they bowled all week on. They all had about 6 of the same ball with diff drillings and layouts. I watched the reps doing surface changes just before the telecast. They picked a couple that was working for them.

I stand corrected.
So how did the pattern get so messed up that great bowlers appeared as they did? Bizarre!

Yeah it was bizarre, they looked good during warm ups on the tv pair. Hard to say what happened, maybe the lights, but they dried out quick.

That was not a high scoring pattern, I believe the cut to match play only took 208 avg. Then add nerves and the TV lights, both rash and machuga threw the 3.5 all week and it was very impressive.

Agreed. This is a valid point. But for me, watching these balls on such treacherous conditions, helps to confirm my suspicions regarding a ball's versatility.
Again of course it could very well be that the operator was just plain bad in using this particular piece, but knowing the style and acumen of most PBA bowlers, I put the onus on the ball....this time.

Yeah they were not in an arena they were in the house they qualified on,
Im not saying that the ball is a piece of junk
just saying that it didnt have a good look to it from anyone that threw it today
I was wondering if anyone has used it on any tough sport patterns out there
Im sure it works great just like everything else on a THS shot
and yes the cut average for this tournament was under 210 so it was a hard patten to play,
the players on TV today had zero room for error
a 2 board miss to the right and the ball barely came back to touch the headpin
Anthony switched over to the Onyx Vibe for the second match
the rep from Track that was on TV that was helping Anthony with some surface adjustments was Paul Figliomini he's my cousin he is pretty much the man with Track's new series of number balls

jesse, did you see the footage of mika winning in finland a week ago ? he used the 3.5 in the title match against parker. when he threw it well the ball looked great. when he threw it bad the ball looked bad. i'm putting the blame on the player.

Where was that Greg? I wasn't aware that any other bowling was on. Cable, internet, or Dish/Direct?

First of all, Dublin is known for being a tricky house. They used the two sides of the house for qualifying. The two sides play very different and they have different characteristics. It is generally a low scoring center.
Secondly if Sean could pick up a spare, he shoots 20+ and wins by a mark. He hit the pocket 10 shots. How can you say the ball looked bad? Dublin is notoriously a bad carry center....look at the scores from the week...Barnes started Thurs nite 28+, 27+, 26+, 18+....DO NOT ALWAYS blame the equipment. Blame the enviroment and the player.
Players are going to use what got them there. Machuga bowled a GREAT game in the title match. He got out scored.

strider, go to www.youtube.com and type in "ballmaster 2010 open". this will show you the tournament in finland a couple weeks ago. the roster was full of pba players and top international players. i believe firt place was $22,000.

Thanks Greg. Only had time to watch a little for now. It certainly shows how different (better) the ball rolls on another pattern.
