Slingshot Solid?
« on: July 10, 2010, 02:06:47 AM »
Now that Brunswick has the Slingshot Pearl, why not create a Solid. They had a solid and pearl in the Power Groove series. The Slingshot is such a popular ball right now, I would not be surprised if it made an appearance on the PBA this year. This ball may be deemed entry level, but I know of a lot bowlers that are not entry level bowlers picking it up and loving it. My Pro Shop guy said it is the smoothest ball at the break point that he has ever thrown, and he is a big cranker. I have not picked one up yet, but I will. We bought (13 yrs old) my son one to pair up with his Visionary Gladiator Pearl, he loves it.

Probably not going to happen. Slingshot is a niche ball, and if you need something more, they have the Avalanche series.

I still need to put holes in my Slingshot........

Have to agree with Juggernaut.

It's one of the mildest balls I have ever seen. As such, there's little likelihood that they'll do a solid version. However, they had several versions of the Power Groove in pearl for both dry lanes and for starter bowlers, before they also issued several other varieties of the PG, including,
1. a solid particle
2. a particle pearl
3. two versions of the solid resin

So, while I wouldn't hold any hope for a solid version, it's within the realm of possibility while not being a probability.

2. a particle pearl

Was an amazing bowling ball. Very smooth with a good finish. Didn't over react.

You won't see a solid version of the Slingshot for the same reason that you won't see a solid Freeze....a solid resin version of any entry level ball will take away sales from the manufacturers midline balls to the average league bowler.

Remember the Jolts from Storm??? That's the exact reason they went away....too much performance for too low of a price. This is my gut feeling for Columbia going wild with the new Freeze colors too...make them less appealing to Joe Average League Bowler so they will spend more $$$ on a "better" ball.
