I wanted to get some insights on this ball. I am bowling a PBAX league for the first time this winter. I was thinking of getting this ball as a step down when the pattens begin to break down/carry down in the 3rd/4th game. From what I have read it sounds like this will get through the heads as they burn up and still give me a good hard reaction at the end of the pattern. I have not tried any of the C-System's before but think this might be the answer I am looking for. For those who have thrown it, does this seem to make sense based on what you have experienced. My stats are 18-18.5 MPH, about 390-400 RPMS, PAP about 4 7/8 over, 1/4 up. Also if anyone has any advice on a good drilling for this as well, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks.

I don't think you can go wrong here. Having said that, with the factory finish the ball gets EASY length, too easy on SOME fresh conditions.

Once I knocked the gloss off it became a real monster that will allow most bowlers to open up their angles on the lanes. I suspect that with the extra volume on PBA patterns you may do the same, but that's not a weakness. Being able to switch to a pearl earlier is a good thing because they respond so much faster to friction on the back end. To me, that means "miss room" and how is that a bad thing?

It is a great ball ball but has some serious hook to it. Have it and a Wicked drilled identical, the Wicked has more length of the two with a good backend reaction. The Ultimax starts reading the lanes sooner and finishes just as strong as the Wicked. If the Ultimax is a little sooner and stronger then what you expected, the Wicked would be a good option to add later.

So far I can start with the Ultimax, and change to the Wicked as the start to hook more.

Yes, the Ulti-max is a ball that clears the fronts and makes a strong move to and through the pocket. It is soooo clean and versatile that I was able to use it on Scorpion, Chameleon, and Cheetah oil patterns. This ball is good for high rev players to get deep on the lane and wheel it off the friction because it doesn't read the midlane too much. It can handle medium oil and gets down lane pretty far before making the hard left turn. My stats are 16.5 mph, about 370 - 410 rpms, and my pap is 5 3/8" over and 7/8" up. I have my ulti-max layed out using the dual angle method of 85 Deg x 5" x 35 Deg. I would recommend this ball for the PBAX patterns for when you need a ball that gets down lane before making a continuous motion through the pins. With your speed, I might recommend a dual angle drilling of 75 Deg x 5" x 40 Deg. This drilling for the ulti-max should be made to go longer and have a sharp backend reaction to show how well the ball goes though the pins. Good luck with your PBAX league.

I agree with Brunswick Fan Brandon! I waited to drill mine after drilling the Lethal Revolver and Massive Damage and I'm glad I did!!!! On the fresh I can use the Lethal Revolver or Massive Damage cause of the layouts on each. I went with pin under ring finger with a dual angle layout of 50 deg x 3-5/8 x 75 deg and on the Massive Damage I went with a lower drill angle of 30deg x 3-3/8 x 30 which placed the pin above and right of ring finger. The strong drill and low rg of the Massive let's it read the midlane sooner with a very strong arc at the break point. The Lethal reads the midlane but is smoother at the break point and is an even arc. The Ulti-Max is dual angle 55deg x 5-3/8 x 40deg with the pin above my middle finger and no weight hole needed. The Ulti gets thru the head and midlanes real easy with a very hard move at the break point!!! Great choice for all bowlers looking for length and strong finish! Just my $.02, Bruce

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!

In the month that I've been throwing the Ulti-Max, I've been really impressed with it's length. I think it will definitely get it's share of time on the lanes when the heads deteriorate. It's unbelievably strong around the corner and even from very deep angles, cuts through the pins and finishes.

Thank you all for your information. Sounds like I can't go wrong with this ball. Thanks for the drilling tips as well. I normally come in with ideas to bounce of my driller and let him give me his take. So these will give me some starting points. If there are any others out there, please feel free to add your thoughts as well. I appreciate everyone taking the time. Thanks again!
