Can Any Brunswick Reps Help Me Out?????
« on: March 15, 2005, 01:35:05 AM »
I have a Bionic Zone 2, your web site says it is:
Coverstock
PowerKoil 22 Reactive
Color:
Blue Solid/Red Solid
Hardness: 76-78
Factory Finish
400-Grit Wet Sand
More Information

Core Dynamics
RG Max: 2.583"
RG Min: 2.436"
RG Diff: 0.047"
RG Asy: 0.015"
RG Avg: 4.6
Performance
Hook Potential 150
Length 80
Breakpoint Shape 75

This is the same stats listed on the drill sheet.  Now the discrepency:  In the description paragraph under Bionic Zone 2 it states that the ball is a PowerKoil 22 based ball with a low load particle coverstock.

Can someone from Big B please clarify what this balls coverstock is. Is it just a solid Powerkoil 22 or is it a PK 22 with a low load particle?
Any help from you guys to clear this up would be greatly appreciated.

Good question! I wondered about this entry, too. From the specs the BZ 2 looks interesting and I think about ordering one instead of an Impulse Zone.

But from what I know, PK22 is a non-particle coverstock.

i've emailed the reps at the brunswick site asking what the difference is between the different covers (pk22 et. al.)   No response...

you certainly can't tell from the site but they expect you to know.

I find it very confusing to have all the PK versions in the ball descriptions and no comparison available - especially for the overseas balls. PK 18 might be a benchmark, the SS coverstacks will be good for dry backends and a snappy, polished ball... but what the hell is PK 22 good for?

I have two points to make about Overseas equipment and customer service.

1. I have used both Storm and Brunswick overseas balls. Whenever I had a question regaurding Storm's overseas equipment I contacted them through their web site and received a prompt response about the item I was asking about. I have emailed Brunswick through their web site about the Bionic Zone 2 and the discrepencny between their web site discription and the drill sheet and still haven't received a response.

2. As far as I know both International and U.S. balls are produced in the same plant for both of these respective companies. So i'm sure someone that knows someone should have some kind of technical knowledge about these Brunswick balls. I worked in a plant that produced TV glass panels for 16 years. Just because I worked in one department doesn't mean I didn't have a general knowledge of what was going on in another department.

Come on Big B, help a guy out when he's asking for assistance. What is the sence of having customer service if you can't get any service.

I may be wrong here, but it seems as if it was a particle cover, that you would be able to actually see particles in the surface of the ball?  This may be tough depending on how low of a load (if any) is actually used.....

Strapper:
I know a person with a Danger Zone 2 International. It's clearly marked a low load particle. Even has the Carbide name on it. Which is particle. My point here is you can't see particles in that ball. I can't see particles in my Bionic Zone 2 either, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

All I want from Big B is a clarification:
Is my Bionic Zone 2 a solid reactive or a low load particle?
I don't think I'm asking too much to find out.

Ta:
Correct, web site has it listed as a solid reactive.

HOWEVER >>>>>>>

Drill sheet enclosed with ball has it as a low load particle.

This is what i'm trying to clear up. Which is correct?
Website saying solid reactive.
OR
Drill sheet saying low load particle.

These guys haven't replied yet because they have already said more than once that the International balls are created under a completely seperate R&D department.

im4x4nut,

Sorry no one has replied sooner.  We've actually all been in meetings the last few days.  To answer your question, PK22 is reactive.  It is not, nor does it have any particle in it.  Basically PK22 is a slightly stronger version of PK18.  Sorry for any confusion, there must have been a misprint on the drill sheet.  I hope this helps.

Thank you for your interest in Brunswick Products.

John Prokopec:
Thanks John for the reply. I like the way the Bionic Zone 2 reacts, it is one he** of a ball. I just try to shy away from particle equipment because I feel that they just don't last long enough for the money spent. I also feel that way about solid reactive balls but I needed a solid for heavy oil for the upcoming tournies I will be participating in.
My concern was that I was buying one thing and getting another. I had bought another Bionic Zone 2 before I noticed the differneces between the drill sheet and the web site. I haven't received this ball yet but will let you know what that drill sheet says when I get it.
If there is a problem with this drill sheet I will let you know so you can contact the printer about this misprint.
As far as who I have tried to contact: I have left this posting as well as trying to contact several Big B reps on this site, I sent messages to both BrunsNick and BrunsRicH about this topic with no reply. I also sent an email through Brunswicks customer service on your web site with no reply. Earlier today I sent email to the following people, I received these from GREG HOPPE on this posting. Here they are:
rick_benoit@brunbowl.com
tom_tomaras@brunbowl.com
ron_bragg@brunbowl.com
Does Brunswick have some kind of Honor roll or something similiar? I shot 300 - 800 with a Smart Zone 1 in December. It was only on a house shot so I realize the 300 doesn't mean much, but the 800 still means something to me anyways. Especially since it was on an ancient wood lane house.
Again, thanks for your time and response, Rich.
