this is the brunswick black amber zone. it along with the burgundy zone came out in 1995. they were the first two balls in the zone series to come out. the black amber zone had the same core as the sapphire blue zone which came out a year later. the black amber zone had a pearlized version of powrkoil 15 reactive coverstock. the burgundy zone had the core from the rhino pro le and this core was to be used later in the johnny petraglia lt-48 gold. the burgundy zone was a solid.
brunswick had high hopes for these balls but the pba lane maintenence crew changed the lane conditions and these balls never really matched very well. the next series of zones, the sapphire blue and the danger zone, were smash hits.

Wow guys, thanks for the fast and detailed responses! Much appreciation! I tried to look on "bowlingballreviews" and must have missed that listing.

Thanks!

click on "discontinued balls" and then click on ,"brunswick". then find black amber zone.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the response. Actually 230-n-up-or-bust linked it in his response above, so he saved me the effort! That's why I was saying I hadn't seen it when I looked! LOL.

Thanks again!

However, Greg's explanation of this particular ball was filled with far more information than mine.  Any goof can copy & paste.
