CAN I DO THIS? DIFFERENTS BALLS SAME LAYOUT
« on: April 29, 2005, 05:07:31 AM »
I have drill my ultimate inferno with this layout

...0.0
.....pin

..........cg...xhole

....0

Now i have a nemesis and a power groove dry/r my main idea is to put the nemesis for medium, the groove for dry and keep the ultimate for heavy
i have a great reaction with my ultimate smooth, controllable and i want the same reaction but for different conditions on my other balls
would it be correct if i put the same layout on the other balls.
i was thinking to polish my nemesis and keep the same coverstock in the groove but with the same layout that i have on my ultimate
please advices

I currently hav all my new equipmnet drilled ralitvly the same.

pin in ring cg kicked out. how far? depend on weither I want a weight hole or not and the top wieght but an 1" is good.

I chose balls that are differenrt enough from one another and adjust the shells.

this drilling allows my to work the ball with different releases and different ball paths and score. so it is my basic drilling for my generic 4 ball set.

I will dabble in exotic or specific drillings or setup a ball for a specific league. but in gereral I have tried many different arsenal setups and either way you need to surface prep your balls correctly and let your adjustment grow farther than drill patterns you think you need and you can carry less balls and be more effective of of a bowlers.

I see nothing wrong with what you want to do.

most of my equipment is drilled the same. my inferno, zone classic, and monster slay/r are layed out with the pin even with the bottom of the ring finger and the cg is swung just enough towards the center of grip to avoid a balance hole. my heavy oil balls( raging inferno, ultimate inferno )are basically layed out with the pin next to the ring finger, the cg is stacked, and there is a balance hole below the mid line. these balls all have different surface preparations but similar types of roll-----however, the breakpoints on the lane are very different. which is what i'm looking for. in july i'll be buying three new balls and they will all be layed out very similar. this method has worked very well for me. when i have asked rick benoit and tom tomaras of brunswick about this they both feel this is a very important consideration.
