Classic Zone resurface

I recall someone mentioning to take the factory surface off of the ball but I'm not familiar with todays resurfacing techniques.  I rolled my new CZ today fresh out of the box and it skated all the way down the lane.  My SlayR moved more than the CZ.  

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.



(I also tried 0 pitch in the thumb which is more comfy but will take some getting used to).

Did you throw anything else, so that we can eliminate burn out as the cause?  Also, how are both drilled?

something's not right.  the zc will hook circles past the slayr that I had.  in fact the zc hooks more on the backend than any ball I own.

is your monster slayR sanded and your zone classic polished ? both of mine are highly polished and the zone classic hooks much earlier on any pattern.

Since I'm not well versed on explaining my layouts, I will post a picture of it but it is similar to my TimeZone.  Also, I was throwing the TimeZone on the same pair.  

If I was to explain it as it looks, the pin is slightly above and to the right of my fingers with the PSA drilled through the thumbhole.

I got the ball cheap so I could experiment with my finger and thumb pitches so it's no great loss if I fubar'd the drilling.

Thanks Greg.  

The PSA is/was at the right edge of the thumb hole.  And it does break late which is the reaction I was looking for.  It could have been my frustration at the time I was bowling.  I so wanted to bowl in the tourney this afternoon but after a week of throwing up and being dehydrated, I didn't have the energy.    Actually, I prolly shouldn't have been bowling today.

Perhaps I will try it at another house tomorrow.  The house where I bowl league at, the lanes have befuddled me the entire season.  Most bowlers are playing an extreme down and in shot, ala Traber style.  

Plus the CZ was my experimental ball since I only paid $50 bones for it.  I wanted to see how the 0 pitch in the thumb felt before I decided to drill the Absolute and Rhino Pro Teal the same way.

0 pitch is hawt! I may try some foward pitch with my next ball, just to see how that feels.

Its weird using a ball with reverse now, now if i could just have a consistant swing.
