Best Ball Cleaner?
« on: February 24, 2005, 05:38:46 AM »
I'm just wondering, what is the best ball cleaner
because today after using my brand new Intense Inferno
after 7 games it was almost totally black. I came home
and used Simple Green at different levels of dilution,
even straight Simple Green. Then I had to use Baking Soda
and water to get the black off yet there is still scuff
marks all over the ball. What is the best ball cleaner
that will allow me to keep the ball reaction the same
as it was new? Thanks.

Track's Clean and DUll will work on any ball and will leave any ball as it is. It is probably the strongest, deepest cleaning, SAFE, bowling-specific cleaner made.

If those black marks were disintegrating rubber belts marks, use 91% alcohol and a terry cloth towel AND elbow grease. The ONLY other thing that will get them off completely IS illegal: acetone.

How could a clean & dull cleaner leaves any ball as it is when the cover of an intense inferno is polished. That's why it is clean & dull, it does clean it good & leave it as dull surface. I tried it on my polish ball & it made it dull, but not polish. You can try storm reacta clean, it's one of the good one too.

I use a mixture of 1/3 Simple Green, 1/3 Rubbing Alcohol and 1/3 water. It works great. I give my equipment a quick cleaning every time I'm done bowling for the day. You have to use a little elbow grease to get the belt marks off but I've found that this mixture works well.

I'll try adding some rubbing alchol to the water and
Simple Green mixture and trust me, I was really working on
those marks.

I will say though I do have a few belt marks on some of my stuff that will not come off at all. Doesn't happen too often though.

Maybe some of it is dried on pin blood.

Best ball cleaner I have ever used is Powerhouse Ball Cleaner (not energizer cleaner)

PBC smells like death, but works AWESOME!

Triple X,

Not sure how you applied it, but I've been using it for years with a terry cloth towel or with a paper towel. It has never made any polished or pearl ball dull for me, unless I applied it with an abrasive.

Clean & Dull is just its name; it has NO abrasive in it at all.

I agree with Charlest all the way on his statement above that the C & D does not change the surface of the ball. It leaves dull balls dull and shiney balls shiney. I put the ball on Spinner, put a gob of C & D about the size of a nickle or quarter on ball and smear over half of ball with my hand. (you can wear a latex glove if you don't want to get it on uour hands) I let it sit on the ball until I spot the first tiny spot that is beginning to dry (approx 30-60 seconds depending on type of ball) and then start the spinner and wipe off with an old tee shirt. I then turn ball over and do the other side.

I've used Storm Reacta Clean and found it to be inferior to other cleaners such as Neo Tac Liquid Nitro, Simple Green / Water mixed togeather, etc. These cleners only clean the oil and dirt from the outer surface of the ball. The Track Clean and Dull cleans not just the outer surface,  but deep cleans the ball where other cleaners don't clean.

tenth frame ultra clean works great----the only problem is that it's not usbc approved.
