The original Verge was a ball I wanted to pull the trigger on but never could. My mind wanted something similar with lower diff and this new one fits the bill at .037

Bowler's Rant just did a breakdown of these two, and for a moment, I was a little scared. Despite the names, they are two completely different balls with two different purposes. The only thing they'd really have in common is the name.

Chris Beans slotted this either at or slightly below the Redemption Solid, so this screams to me to be a replacement for it. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Redemption solid gets discontinued.

Different cover, different core. The 2-piece pancake part of the core is missing on the Obsession Tour, while it is there on the Obsession. But with the TourV2 Solid  cover, you're looking at an updated Web Tour Edition cover, which screams control.

The numbers at 15#:
RG: 2.469
Diff: 0.034
Asym: 0.013

RG and Differential are much lower than the Obsession, and while the RG is .001 lower than the Web TE, the differential is .004 higher. Control asym? Chris mentioned that it provides a solid asym control ball so you wouldn't have to ball down to a hybrid.. I'd love to see it compared to the Web Tour Edition Hybrid.

These are using DOT as well, so that really opens up options for drilling.

I noticed that despite the use of DOT, the He11 Raiser Return only has a 2 year warranty.  Weren't DOT balls initially sold with a 4-year warranty?

I brought that up months ago. It’s only a 2 year warranty now for DOT balls. Never received an answer why. Probably the obvious that after 4 years balls will crack for many reasons and to warranty the ball that long is probably not a sound financial decision.

As long as people keep wanting the latest and greatest, they will keep pushing them out at an alarming rate.  Keep them coming, just means better closeout deals for the new ball stash!

Very true. Still, the Hammer Obsession Tour looks interesting. I like low differential balls for sport conditions, and the Web Tour has been good to me. What little I've seen from my new Web Tour Hybrid impresses me too.

The Obsession Tour, which brings an Asymmetrical core to the party, might be too hard to pass up.

You have 7 brands with 4 product lines each.  Why would you buy 4 brands to then consolidate?  You keep running them like 7 brands.  Look at any brand in bowling and the number of releases they do each year and when.  They all have nearly the same release cycle.

Also when they bought EBI they no longer had to compete with Hammer's 3 year warranty (which is now 2 as well).

The Obsession Tour definitely looks good; an HP version of the Web Tour.

I was worried because at first glance, it sounded like they were going to do something similar to what Ebonite did with the Pursuit and Pursuit-S... which didn't turn out too well.

But the Obsession Tour definitely has some potential.
