Danger Zone 2000

Hello everyone,

I have a ball that according to www.bowlingballreviews.com is called the Danger Zone 2000. It is black with a red "R" and underneath the "ZONE" logo the ball reads, Special Edition.

Words cannot describe how much I am in love with PowerKoil 18 Reactive! That has truly been the best coverstock for my style of play.

However, I am in search of the information as to what core is in this ball as well as the coverstock, although I do believe it is PowerKoil 18.

If anyone could lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry, but unless you have tried a few other balls that also use the PK 18 coverstock, for the time being, let's just say you "love" the Danger Zone.

A whole bunch of other balls have the PK 18 cover and their reactions are very different depending on how the cover meshes with the core.

I agree it is an excellent one, probably one of the top 5 resin coverstocks ever made. I keep a Bruiser and Fire Quantum and won't be getting rid of them for a long time.

Not sure, myself. The picture on BowlingBallReviews makes it appear to be the same as the original, not the Red Alert, which had a lower RG and a higher RG differential.

My favorite PowerKoil 18 balls are the BVP Wizard, BVP Rampage, Purple Power Blitz, and BVP Nemesis.

I have the Danger Zone 2000 and I just don't really know anything about it.

I'm about 99% sure it's as close to the original DZ as you can get.

Kind of surprised the 2000 isn't listed. Maybe it is identical to the original. You can always email one of the reps here or the contacts on their webite to be sure.

I'm kinda hit or miss with them depending on the core..

Wizard and Rampage..just OK..

TudeIII, FQ and Awesome Finish were great for me..

I have 4 of them and they really are good. They are the original "R" Red Alerts. The PowerKoil 18 Reactive cover is great but what makes this Danger Zone great it is the Core. I am still waiting to see Brunswick make another bowling ball with this same particular type of core. I will buy another one on the spot.

After reviewing the Brunswick retired ball sheets I don't honestly see a difference in the the Red Alert and the original Danger Zone

Back then Brunswick gave out relative RG numbers rather than the absolute numbers they do now. The Red Alert had a lower RG and a higher RG differential to deal with the greater oil they had when it was released.
The average RG of the original DZ was 2.5 (out of 10) the average RG of the Red Alert was 1.7 (out of 10).
The RG Differential of the Red alert was .055" the DIff of the DZ was .047".
