Hoss,
went this route. Since the shop here is small and very limited as to their supplies, I tried to be creative.
I had them take it up to 1000 grit ( finest they had ), then hard polish it with finesse it.
Still reads the lane well, but now has really good length, arcy midlane, and strong, "rolly/flippy" backend.
Bowling four game sets during the summer, I shoot 234-236-236-279 for a 985 and the ball was readable with predictable adjustments and no surprises all night long.
The only 800 series I've ever shot was with an original inferno, but, with this ball as clean through the fronts and nearly as "rolly" in the backs, I can see me shooting some good numbers with it now.
