It can be hard to compare a ball like the Inferno, since it was made 12 years ago and we don't have fresh ones here to do fair comparisons. It was a fantastic ball, a lot of people have fond memories or accomplishments.
As others have mentioned, the covers today are cleaner and more responsive than in the past. The oils have changed as well, with the advent of Defy and Ice.
Taking all things into consideration and having some time to throw all the new stuff, I would suggest looking into a Radical Primo. It had the same kind of "stuck to the lane" roll as the Inferno without being overly flippy. Now, my Primo is drilled 60x5x30 and my favorite Inferno was drilled more like 45x4x65. If they were drilled the same, that would be my pick.
