Title: Dale,Sr. #3 bowling ball
Post by: vilecanards on July 25, 2006, 04:17:54 PM
Anybody ever seen another one of these? It's a 16lb., undrilled 1999 NASCAR Racing, Collector's Edition bowling ball that has an actual die-cast car embedded in the top. I have several viz-a-balls, I've seen lots of viz-a-balls, but never one with a car inside. Serial number is NR01076. The woman I bought it from said it went for $150 brand-new, which sounds about right. I wrote the Brunswick people and got a vague reply that maybe 100's or 1000's might have been made. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks....

The shop here has one, but it's not Dale's car. If I recall right, they did a few NASCAR teams at the time since briefly they did have sponsorship on a Busch car (Hermie Sadlers if I recall right)

Crank... which driver-ball do you have at the shop, and is it a 1999 Collector's Edition NASCAR Racing issue? Got any pictures of it, and is it for sale?

YEah thats about right but the bal lwith the car in it cannot be drilled....it'll crack.

They have made a few Dale Sr balls...

1997 Collector ball..all black with an engraved #3 and signature
#3 Vizaball...big 3 on one side and the "7 time champion" with the years on the other
The Legacy Vizaball shown on bowling.com
and another with the #3 car and flames coming out the back like a rocket...

They (NASCAR and Sports Image) are making more off him now that he has passed than tehy did when he was alive.

I too loved the man. Sunday afternoon isn't the same without Big E in the #3.

Let me check here in the next couple of days. But if I remember right it's not a popular driver and I really doubt if it's for sale.

I believe it was Buckshot Jones.  I could be wrong.

I'm not really looking to sell it, just wanted some information about it since the Brunswick people couldn't help. I was mainly wondering if it is fairly rare, or if there truly are thousands of 'em out there, and if anybody was successful in drilling and bowling with it. I am not looking to drill it either... it's a collector's piece. Anybody have any ideas where to look to find an estimated value? I'm fairly sure Beckett's doesn't have a price guide for bowling balls like they do for die-cast cars and baseball cards! I've been in the bowling business for 16 years, 15 of them at the same house(independently owned... been thru three sets of owners) and have never seen another ball like this. Thanks for the replies....
