Title: Damage vs Massive Damage
Post by: NOTHUMB on April 06, 2012, 02:06:44 AM
I got some prices on the Damage and Massive Damage I couldnt pass up and I wanted to get some feedback from you all. I have asked a couple of people through private message and I just wanted to see what other feedback I could get.

I understand the Damage to be a straighter piece with more of a skid/snap or later reaction. I was just looking to get a rough estimate on what you would think the overall difference between the 2 balls is? If all things were considered equal, the Massive would hook how much more? And the shape would be how much different?

Obviously, I'm not referencing a shot with a ton of oil because the Damage would certainly not come into play there. Just looking for your generalizations and opinions. Thank you, in advance.

For me the Massive was a good 5 and 3 more then the Damage. Most people had them closer than that. As far as shape goes, the Massive is smoother off the spot when compared to the Damage. The 2 will compliment each other well. When throwing thre Massive and it begins to burn up you will be able to ball down to Damage.

Thanks for the info Adam. Helps to hear it from someone relatively local whose game I know. Much appreciated.

I'm guessing the difference you see between to 2 will be pretty similar for me based on ball speed, rev rate, and where we are forced to play the lanes. Looking forward to punching them up the beginning of this week. Thanks again.

Also, thanks to Charlest----not sure what happened to his post from last night.

I'm glad you posted this thread and messaged me about it.  As I said, I need to stand 4 boards left with my Massive Damage.  That was true when both balls were OOB and when I took the Massive to 320/1000/1200 grit sandpaper and hit the Damage with 320 grit/compound.

They are a great 1-2 punch for THS and league conditions.  But if I could only have one, I say the Massive is more versatile and can handle light oil just as well as the Damage, as long as you have enough hand to play a deeper line.

For me, the Massive is one of the most under-rated balls in a long time.  It is smooth, predictable, strong -- and the carry is fantastic.  The only thing I don't like about it is I put my Damage up on the shelf for awhile because of the Massive.  The Damage is also a great ball and it was a gift from BrunsNick to boot!
