Quantum Helix >>anyone know where I can get one?!?!?
« on: November 27, 2005, 05:45:38 PM »
I'm looking for this ball.  My old helix is cracked due to a friend leaving it out in the cold.  I cannot find this ball anywhere.  I use a 15 right handed ball.

One of the rarest balls, You probably WONT find one NIB. Better off getting a newer release and saving a few $$.

Keep an eye on eBay if you want one used. This guy paid a lot for a used but great condition

Check for bowling centers around your area.  Then check for bodies of water near those centers.  You are sure to find some there!!!!

Check out ebay.co.uk in the sports goods section, there is a 15lb used helix there for £79+ shipper posts worldwide ( about $140 depending on exchange rate)there is a NIB 16lb helix on there also.

Hope this helps.

SO I have a chance to acquire one of these NIB. How well are they working on todays conditions. I used to throw one about 5 years ago and loved it.

great idea, really retains the energy of the ball till the backend.
but money can be well spent on other balls.

i'd say the helix is a med-light conditions ball.

Medium-light my backside...

The ring is urethane and will want to grab the lane earlier than you'd think, even though it is pearlized.  Then, once it flips, the endcaps are PK18.  Combine that with a medium RG core with a differential close to .055 they don't really let off much, especially when that urethane has enough oil to skid on.

There is really only one way to drill these balls and that is close to stacked leverage so short of polishing the snot out of it I doubt it's for med-light oil.

I need carrydown on synthetic lanes for this ball to do really well with my release.  On a fresh house shot this ball simply has too much backend for my taste.  A longer heavier shot can be played down and in until you run into the track to your left.
