need suggestion on AI's drilling
« on: March 01, 2006, 08:52:09 AM »
I have my AI for a year, I found out the problem that I throw this ball with too much side spin, it just skid and won't snap back at backend. If I throw it very slowly and get some roll, it will hit the pocket right and almost guarranty strike. but I can't make it roll with speed faster than 12mph. no matter how I adjust my release. Is my current drilling layout preventing me get more roll on the ball? If so what layout you guys suggest that I redrill it to?

current layout:
#####P#
##O O##
#######
###*###
#######
###O###

P=Pin
*=CG
15lb AI

Thanks

depends on your PAP, axis tilt and rotation.

12 mph is VERY, VERY SLOW.
Are you sure aout that ball speed?

Basically, the pin needs to be lower, exactly where depends on your PAP.
I'd also guess you might need more surface, but that depends on the other factors. Can't use too much surface with too little ball speed.

more info... i think i am stroker, no sudden accelerate at release. very basic follow through release with no wrist spin or anything whole arm and hand is straight. I notice i have low track, which mean the oil rings are small and not cover many ball surface. i try to measure the PAP distance, not sure how to do it correctly, but it about 5inch below my thumb hole.

Low track (not sure what "5" below thumb" means) means that pin position is very close to your PAP implying very little flare and early roll. Have the pro shop measure your PAP, which they should have done before they ever drilled your ball. WHat you have is a generic drilling, which seems is not conducive to much hook at all, in your case.
