Given the Bayer chemical company's penchant for providing the exact resin chemical formula from year to year, I'd agree that the cores are the thing that's modified from years gone by . There's no more bismuth core within the "light bulb core, but there is a good amount of the old flare/differential at .040" vs the old .047".

I love my DZ. The ball really revs when it hits the friction, much like my Damage but stronger. What exactly is bismuth, Charlest? I've only seen the pictures of the core.

Bismuth is technically a metal, which is according to bowling ball rules, illegal to put into balls. I think it was just another dense composite like the "Ceramicore" that Columbia used in the 90s. I think the idea was to get the RG as low as possible. You can see the little nugget in this PDF data sheet for the Red Alert:

Not to worry, here in the US we now get the Karma Solid and Karma Pearl with a modified Danger Zone core and Powercoil 18 coverstock.
